Sitting here lightly cleaning a beautiful French 1842 Yataghan bayonet with the wicked looking 23" re-curved or "yataghan-shape" blade and brass handles.Using bronze wool with the sent of Kroil whiffing around my head.I would say I was happy but you all would take the wrong way.[:)]

That's a photo of a bayonet like mine not mine.I did not want to take the time to photo mine. The one I have is not shiny like that one and I don't want to shine it. I was just lightly rubbing it with bronze wool and Kroil. Yours looks good.

should be able to find one around 90 bucks. not uncommon. it is a hellacious bayonet. makes a passable short sword. the blood groove you see is huge, what do they do bayonet cows? because the top ridge is a 3/8" wide T-shape cross section, with the middle area of the blade being extra thin. like an I-beam with an edge on bottom. making the blood groove mebbe 3/16" deep on both sides. Ricci could give exact dimensions.

geez, stick it on a 6' rifle and they could go threshing wheat on a slow day.
