trip to the shooting range

went to break in the Glock 23. your mission: shoot 100 rounds before it blows up.

started off at 25 yards using the Weaver stance. first I was aiming at the middle of the paper just to make sure I could hit it. that's the string on the left target. then aimed at the right target. that's the grouping in the middle.

okay I can hit the target at 25 yards standing, so next I will try 50 yards from a bench rest.

yeeha.

went back to 25 yards, bench rest. discovered it shoots high and to the left.

straight up from the left edge of the front sight, hits 3" high at 25 yards. got to hold off there to hit the bullseye.

once I figured that out you can tell where the grouping tightens up.

okay this is as good as I can possibly shoot at 50 yards. forget 100 yards.

went back to 7 yards standing. target on the right is aimed fire, not trying too hard. seems the correction wasn't necessary at that distance.

target on the left, I went to an Isosceles stance and "just shoot the frikkin thing" aiming by looking over the barrel. sort of rapid fire, as fast as the 3-seconds-between-shots rule allows.

same accuracy. much greater rate of fire.

mission: accomplished.
