No southern ban in Melbourne Florida

A Melbourne city commissioner proposed banning the Confederate Flag in the East Central Florida city and the ban was rejected by other commissioners.
She had also wanted a law stating no city employee could attend any event a Confederate flag was displayed. Common sense prevailed

I am sure some will take this to mean this area is a racist area but that is far from reality.

Some people just realize tolerance does not just mean your differences are respected. It means you too respect opinions you do not agree with as well.
What a thought!

I live in the next town south of Melbourne, Palm Bay and do the Melbourne Gun Show. There will be a show this weekend (18/19) and have to think the flag will be a waving.
I do have a sign on my table that reads "Black Rifles Matter"
The Black folk that attend the show get the joke so it is not all black people that are intolerant

one point of discussion you are never going to hear coming from the libs (democrats) is how they want to support the poor downtrodden blacks... and guns are bad so everybody's guns need to be taken away... but the blacks are the one group that acknowledge the need for guns the most, living in crime-ridden neighborhoods.

and I would like to say something about tolerance, differences and respect.

the whole thing has gotten confused because the libs, always looking for reasons to support other downtrodden parts of society, think they have to find a reason to like them.

those po' downtrodden Mexicans; we should feel sorry for their plight. they're uneducated, unskilled and don't speak English. we need some more gardeners. if you don't give them free medical care, driver's licenses, let them vote, and give jobs to their illegal immigrants or else you're racist. blah blah

those po' downtrodden happys. we should embrace them. we should like how the men sleep with men, the women sleep with women, and you should celebrate happy "marriages" or else you're a happyphobe. blah blah

what the libs cannot understand is that the principle of FREEDOM that this country was founded on, does NOT mean that you have to like those other people. respect, in that sense, means that you leave them alone, so that in return, you also aren't bothered and you can live your life however you want. live and let live.

so what are the consequences of that lack of understanding?

when it comes to something like Southern heritage, and a Confederate flag, we find that the libs don't like it and they won't allow it. where's the respect? where's the live and let live?

they don't have it. that was not actually part of being a liberal.
