Navy has tards too

My first glimpses of US Navy medicine were that it was a good operation....boy was I wrong. To get my back bolted together the surgeon needed an MRI first, they referred me to a offbase MRI place..pretty easy I thought. Then Tricare wanted me to pay half of the MRI....uhh no this is the reason I was medically retired...got the VA to pay for it...wow this is easy.

Then on Sunday at about 9:30 at night this rude Navy tard calls my house saying he saw the offbase medical questioneer I filled out and since I had metal in my eye years ago I need a X-ray to make sure the metal is gone. I thought 'how did this jerk get involved?' I was honest and checked the box asking if I had ever gotten metal in my eye and wrote right next to it that they checked with X-ray's and I've had MRI's since then.

The Navy doesn't have my medical records, they are at the VA in Hawaii. So I copied the records I have and handed Navy Radiology the past few MRI reports taken after the metal was removed from my eye and the piece of paper in my records that showed it was removed years ago.

Should be good right? Nope, these tard kids in Radiology at the Naval Hospital don't even look at it and say I need a X-ray. I said no thanks and left. Jeesus H.....I've had MRI's with and without contrast many times since that frekin piece of metal was removed...a one eye mentally handicapped monkey could see that apparently there is no more metal in me.

These kids working in Radiology at the US Naval Hospital in Guam are cancelling my MRI with a civilian MRI place that is being paid for by Veterans Affairs for a back surgery I need that resulted in my early military 'retirement'.

Yeah I'm whining and I could just let these tards take their X-ray even tho I don't need it. But the fact that these people are being this stupid has reminded me the risk I take if I let the US Army do the surgery in Hawaii.

I haven't met the Army tards yet.

Yeah any other person would just let the kids in Radiology snap a needless X-ray.

Too many X-rays and MRI's are bad for you. Plus letting them waste money is bad.

Ahh who cares right? Better to ignore the risks and ignore the waste of govt. funds.

I am sorry to hear this.
Y'all veterans should be getting the best medical care available in the country.
When I was a Paramedic in central Georgia, I went to VA hospitals many times, taking patients there on transfers. I saw incompetent doctors, many times they were foreign and hardly could speak English.
I saw nurses who had a dull look in their eyes, and they acted like they didn't give a damn.
These VA hospitals were providing the lowest standard of medical care that I saw. It is a shame.

Wait till they sic the proctologist on you. You haven't seen anything yet...And they will, eventually.[:D]
On the serious side; if you can get to the mainland, Palo Alto has a great new VA hospital staffed by Stanford University doctors. I was living on Maui and had to go for a heart transplant. I was flown to Palo Alto and then transferred to Stanford University hospital where the transplant was done. VA paid it all. That's as good as medical care gets. [:)]
The only problem is--I don't where they get the hearts. Same days I crave bananas like crazy. Other days, I find myself curled up licking myself. Not all bad you know.[}:)][:D]

Even though you have had the metal removed and had MRI scans sense then you should get the x-ray. If IF there happened to be a small piece of metal still in it will hurt when it is ripped out of your eye ball.
Some of the newer MR systems are a lot stronger than they use to be.
If that happens to be the case and there is something still in there I hope it isn't your shooting eye.
Let us know how it works out for you.
Also you should be use to the VA BS. You don't want the scan they don't care.
    Good luck

Well, Bud, I imagine they have a standardized procedure by which they are required to go lest they lose their job. They should explain things more in detail to you, though, so you understand what's going on and the exact reasons for it. Good luck. I'm going in for surgery (below the belt) (ahem!) in June or so and I am plenty full of dread about it. I'm just praying for a competent team.

From what I understand, the Bush administration will fix the problems--they are trying to cut back on the VA budget and raise the co-pay for the vet's medicines. [;)]

[:0][:(]I HOPE NOT!!!![:D] It's for a "repair" in that area (hydrocel) and some procedure for a bladder stone, combined treatment.

The PA says there will be many days of much pain. I know a few of the members will find that news delightful. I hope you all will forgive me if I become a little grouchy and abrasive for a while after the operation, AND NOT MY USUAL SWEET-NATURED SELF!!! [:(!][}:)]

    VA saved my fathers life.
VA is visiting my father at home every two weeks to ensure he is well.
VA found his irregular heart beat and treated it.
VA gives my mother FREE vitals because SHE must care for him 24/7 at home.
VA trained us one on one, on how to care for dad in our own home.
VA allows my father to have 7 drugs, EACH over 200.00 a bottle for only 7.00.
VA gave my father a free wheelchair, free toilet, free electric human hoist and installed it in our house for FREE.
VA gave my father an air mattress for free, to keep him from getting bedsores.
VA gave me a FREE hearing aid.
VA reset my broken elbow for free.
VA allows me to get 500.00 tax defered income every month.
    VA gave me free glasses.
VA gives me an annual check up FREE.
VA found a hernia on me.
VA operated and corrected my hernia for FREE.
    VA gives me FREE xrays.
VA gives me free colon check ups.
VA gives me free flu shots and free blood tests.

IM ALIVE TODAY, because of VA.
and if the workers and doctors at a VA hospital look beat and worn out its because they got to deal with stinkin whiners all the time. when i go to VA, i make a point to thank every one i see, because in my eyes, its a team effort they provide, therefore they all get the attaboy. they are all heros for heros. even when some dont deserve it.

I cannot say enough about the Spokane VAMC. At first I was put off by all the doctors wearing bones in their noses, but once the drums started and the goat was slaughtered and my cardiologist released the humours from my carotid I was back at it in no time.

    223:

You are right, the Navy has its share of "tards". So does the army and air force, experienced them all. On the other hand, they also have some of the best and brightest you'll ever encounter. A lot of how your experience with them turns out has got to do with your attitude.

Now about the VA. That's the best deal ever for all of us who have spent time in the Armed Forces. Yup, from time to time you will run across someone who is over worked, is having a bad day and even someone having trouble with English but all in all, I don't think we can do better than the VA Medical system. VAMC Asheville, NC is richly staffed with Duke University doctors doing their residency and have got to say that I doubt I could ask for better medical care from anywhere or anyone.

By the way, take a look at my last name. I was born with it and had a VA doctor of obvious middle eastern decent make fun of it once. Powers to be at that VA hospital took a very dim view of his sense of humor.
