Interstate move, with guns.

I'm going to be moving to Arizona for 18 months (school) and wish to take a few of my guns with me. Is there anything I should know about moving to another state, gun-wise? Is it even legal? Do I need to do some kind of transfer or anything? I mean, they're mine, bought all nice-and-legal-like. Can I transport them to another state without ending up in the hoosgow?

I'd be more concerned about getting them back into California in 18 months.
this is absolutely the case. AZ is very gun friendly, you got nothing to worry about going in that direction. Calif. could change laws anytime to make guns bought legally in AZ illegal to come back with. You will lose some of the grandfathered priviliges you may have enjoyed in Calif. depending on what type of guns you own. Anything like an assault rifle or facsimile thereof that you might have owned pre the Calif. state ban would now be verboten. If you are a student you might be able to get around some potential problems by maintaining Calif. as your primary residence, which might mean paying Calif. state income tax etc.
I don't own any manner of assault-type rifles, and, not to hijack my own thread or anything, there's nothing on the "banned" list that I would want to own, even if it were given to me; and I will be so freakin' po' (yes, po', worse than poor) I won't be able to buy any guns in AZ. Just making sure I won't be going to a federal prison for unlawful interstate transport of a firearm or anything like that.
You shouldn't have a problem on the move back to CA. They are not going to search you at the border. What you have now is legal in CA. If they have the inspection gates open, just don't take any fruit or veggies in that may have bad bugs, etc.[:)]
