Pentagon cuts cooked breakfast for some troops in Afghanistan

This has me more fired up than anything in recent years. If there is a reasonable excuse for it I'd like to hear it.

I know there are situations in some times and places when it isn't possible to serve a decent meal to the troops, but when it's part of the plan, it's unnecessary, uncalled for and intolerable.

They could all be fed for months just taking one meal away from Chris Christie.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

This has nothing to do with Budget. Its normal Practice as Support troops leave 1st. One of the 1st to go would be the cooks.

It looks more like weak and ineffective leadership and management to me.

If that was ever standard procedure, the Navy and Marine Corps managed to keep me from finding out about it since April of 1961, and I've served in some pretty out of the way places. As I said before, there are times when you can't feed the troops, but it's NEVER part of the plan.

Hell, even George Patton who wasn't known for being warm and fuzzy made sure the troops got a hot meal when possible.

Do not know how many times I've had that done to me and I was not even overseas.

Know what sucks even more about this? My unit gets 2 hots a day, and 1 mre for lunch during AT. If anyone's hot chow should be cut, it should be us who aren't getting shot at.

They need to save $$ for Osabama's life time secret service security detail.

Except US Military cooks haven't actually cooked a meal since about 2007... It's all done by local nationals being employed by civilian contractors now.

His trip today to Las vegas would have kept them eating breakfast for 6 more months.

Yea, army cooks don't cook... I'm not sure what they do, but we had KBR cooking our meals. Most were Albanian, few Serbian... none got paid what a US citizen would've gotten paid.

cry we didnt have hot meals all the dang time for 15 months in Iraq. The news and some of you are over reacting to the story. Its impossible for a hot meal 3 times a day in combat. And actually its quite common while training or deployed to have one cold meal a day and its usually bfast or lunch.

I supported a smaller base and I know for a fact they had hot chow for dinner only for 15 months
