If you sell on eBay, have you ever checked

your total sales ($) since joining eBay?

I was amazed at the total amount I have sold since 2003. Things that we didn't need or use anymore (odds & ends) sold over the years.

To check:

1. Go to "your" My eBay.
2. Move your cursor (pointer) to account.
3. Scroll down the menu list and click on Seller Dashboard.

Both your U.S. and Global sales will be shown.

As I understand it you have to meet a certain annual income amount or be acting as a business.
I believe this is what finally got the dweeb that screwed me.

and if thats a kicker they now charge 10% for all your sales PLUS they charge you 10% on the shipping also. This is their policy to make the seller not CHEAT the e-bay and offer the item for cheap and charge big money to ship which the seller used to put in their pocket and screw e-bay.
I will not sell there anymore since being screwed by them on the last item i sold there.

Most of the stuff I have isnt really worth the hassle of ebay and shipping and what not although I have sold a few items on there throughout the years.

But I have sold quite a few things on {elsewhere} over the years. A lot of things that I thought about trashing or just giving away, I have gotten 20, 40 bucks here and there and actually probably have made a quite a few bucks doing so.

by law your supposed to report all income to the IRS. Now that doesnt necessarily mean you will be taxed on it and/or the final tax rate might be changed due to mitigating factors.
