I don't particularly like Smithfield BBQ and have not eaten there in many years.
I do buy a lot of products of Smithfield Foods however, but will be looking at other brands if this deal goes thru.
Why? They did not buy all the pigs or all the processors, just one company. I don't buy Smithfield anyway, it is not offered in the stores I shop.
"just one company" is the biggest pork producer in the world by far. they are kind of tough to avoid...

that list is just the companies that smithfield owns. nothing about that list says that hormel doesnt buy smithfield pork. see how complex it gets?
i found one article in the la times from last year regarding hormel pork stating that they were going to switch to a different type of crate for some reason or another. that suggest that they raise at least some of their own pigs. maybe most, maybe all. i have no idea. the point is just because smithfield doesnt own the company that makes the product you buy doesnt necessarily mean that the pigs arent smith field...
