Was watching a show this afternoon and got to thinking about this silliness [:D]. So, how do YOU pronounce it (and what state do you originate from)?
"CAR-BEAN"....or "CARB-EYE-N"

The Indians called Hawkeye "La Longue Carabine", in The Last of the Mohicans. Which means "the long rifle". In the French, they say "bine" as eye-n. So a short rifle might be a Courte Carabine.
So I just say rifle.[8D]
