quote:WASHINGTON (AP) - The number of Americans who live in a household with at least one gun is lower than it's ever been, according to a major American trend survey that finds the decline in gun ownership is paralleled by a reduction in the number of Americans who hunt.

One gun: I don't have ANY GUNS,, except a few [:D][:D]

I call BS. The survey assumes people are telling the truth.

I can guarantee 10% - 20% of legal gun owners wouldn't admit it if asked on a form or survey.

Speaking for myself, I've been asked one time on a telephone survey.....I told him it was none of his GD business and hung up on him.

Now that I think about it, he probably marked "yes" [:)]

This survey gets rolled out in a press release every once in a while. It's impossible to get any sort of accuracy in a survey of gun ownership. Too many people are going to lie to the survey takers. I should know, as I lied my * off to one and enjoyed doing so.

Besides, gun sales have been huge in recent years and have grown substantially over the last 25 years. Even so I now own fewer guns than I ever have before, but they are newer and more practical and I have lots of ammo for them.

The guns I sold to pay for the new stuff? Somebody bought them, it's not like they fell out of the ownership numbers!

The survey was primarily in-person interviewing conducted at the University of Chicago. LMAO

The single greatest gun salesman of all time is camping out in the White House. About the only award be has ever deserved. Of course it was the exact opposite he had hoped for.

    I only have assault weapons.[:0]
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I do a public basic gun safety class once a month for our dept. as a PR outreach. You couldn't prove a decline there. We have to promote it by word of mouth and one 24 hour span on FB and it is full. Last class we had 18 show up. Four were men, the rest female. Problem is we charge nothing and have some back out at the last minute leaving what could have been occupied seats in the class.

City dwellers, especially those in Nanny State situations like NYC or San Fransisco may show a serious decline in gun ownership; it is what one would expect in a Socialist/Marxist Utopia Urban area.

Gun ownership in the flyover states is growing by leaps and bounds.

    Ok
so all of you [B)] can slow down on the ammo hording with less gun owners in the make believe land there less competition on the ammo and should be a overabundance so why is there still a shortage [:D]

That's right. Send all your ammo to me and I'll divide it up fair and square.

I am 64 years old. I have seen a big decline in gun ownership in my lifetime. When I was a kid, every house in the neighborhood had several guns in it. Having a few rifles and pistols around was about like having a few hammers and saws around, they were viewed as useful tools.
The future doesn't look too good for us, we have to stick together and hope that our cause will prevail.

I blame the decline on boating accidents. It's amazing how 300-500 million or so privately owned firearms have just simply vanished.

I do not respond to surveys, period. Neither does Doc. They missed half the guns right there.

I would worry more about how boat sales compares to gun ownership.

    Survey says!
    I'll never believe that.
