Which caliber = Best Bang for the Buck?

Considering buying the new S&W .460 or the .500 Mag. Is the punishment of the .500 worth the difference in Ballistics? I have a .44 Mag and .480 Ruger thats costly but not punishing to shoot. Also which frame is the .500 and the .460 S&W built on? One last question is this the order from smallest to largest frame size with S&W Revolvers?
Smallest to largest is this correct? Which ones are currently in production?

the 460 and 500 are both on the X frame.

j,k,l,n,and x are all currently in production.

I'd buy the 500, the 460 does little that a 454 cas didn't already do. I have seen 700 grain load data for the 500.

Personally, I'd go with the .460. I've heard that it is less punishing to shoot and it's on my want list.

The 460 is the flattest shooting factory round ever, but those guns are very large. Not so sure I wouldn't just as soon carry a carbine.
By the way; you can shoot the 454 Casull in the 460(for your light work...[:D]) just like 44mag/44 special, etc.....good luck.....[8D]

I have both in my Encore..I prefer the 460 over the 500

I'd get the 460. It says on the smith and wesson website that it can fire, .460, .454, or .45LC. Talk about good bang for buck!

I think it depends what exactly you want to shoot with this thing.

But yeah. . .I'd pick the .460. . .flatter trajectory, more versatility in factory loads. There is no .500 S&W equivalent to a .45 LC.

Since you already have a .44 and a .480, why not get a Glock 20 in 10mm?
