O.K. , upon cleaning out one of my safes at the house , so I can check and wipe down everything as well as find stuff I have forgot about : an example : Shapleigh's King Nitro model 5100 , selected forged steel , 16 gauge 2 3/4" chamber with tenite stock & forearm Double Barrel (made by Savage/Stevens/Springfield ect.) in apx. 90% cond....
Anybody have any (more/other) info on this , I'm sure it was a 'store brand' ??? have a customer just having a fit about wanting it ???? trying to decide what I should ask ($300-400) maybe ???
any thoughts or comments ????
Thanks !!!

Shapleigh Hardware, St Louis. Their guns were made by several companies (Crescent made a lot) however, think yours IS Savage/Stevens from the 5100 #. If good condition, probably 200-350.

Hello abc: Well "Tenite stocks" were used by Stevens from about 1939-1949. Your gun sounds like the old Stevens Md 530M made for Shapleigh with their Md 5100.

Anyway in general 16ga. SxSs aren't easy to sell unless it's a Parker or Winchester Md 21.

What makes your gun valueable are the Tenite stocks!! I think I'd ask $450, and barter, (come down). If it's truely 90% I wouldn't take less than $350.

    Just my thoughts

    Regards Dave

Shapleigh in and of itself is somewhat collectible, and they carried
all the typical hardware type stuff...from wood stoves - pocket knives.

I had an old King Nitro 12ga. that someone had cutoff, and have
bought sold several pocket knives and various other Shapleigh items.[:)]
