I've been teaching my art classes for years but it's been a long time since I have actually been creative or involved in local art activities. Well, I was recently approached by a representative of a neighboring city's art council and asked to do an exhibition. So I put together something I had actually been playing around with for a couple years and tomorrow my exhibition of photography called "Reclaiming Spaces" will open for a 30 day showing. I offered to donate the money from any sales to the local college's scholarship fund so now they are making a big deal out of it with press releases and yesterday I did a local raido talk-show interview to promote the exhibition.
Not long after the contact by the art council member I was called by a representive of the local member of Congress. There is a national art competition for students being held and each Congressman is holding a local contest to pick a winner to be sent to DC and be displayed in the Capitol. I was invited to be one of the 3 judges for the local contest. This is also happening tomorrow, the same day as the exhibition opening.
I feel so... artsy! I need a croissant.
