If you ever get a chance take a trip to Tahiti. Its breathtaking, a once in a lifetime trip to a island paradise! The water is like glass and the people are beautiful.

Sorry about the photo size I couldn't get it to reduce.

The Mrs. and I have always wanted to go to Tahiti and Bora Bora. We've purchased travel books and videos, and looked thru tour brochures. Have to wait for that winning lottery ticket to get us there. [:(]

I'd make the same recommendation for New Zealand's South Island. I was there in November 2000.

If I would ever consider permanently leaving the US (and I wouldn't), that would be my first choice.

Ok here is another picture just to give you a better ideal of the water clarity.

    I-Orana! Eaha To Oe Huru?

I spent a couple of months there in 1980 studying Anthropology. At one time, I was pretty fluent tn the language (Tahitian, not French). I consider it the trip of a lifetime. We spent most of our time on Tahaa, about 35 miles east of Bora Bora. The mountain in your pic appears to be what I woke up seeing every morning. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

We spent a week in Bora Bora and a week at Huahine which is right across the channel from Tahaa. Huahine is still pretty much unpopulated as compared to Bora Bora. Our first night was at the big island of Tahiti where the airlines connect to, from there you fly to the out islands.
