Rental Harleys in Kauai, Hawaii

Just got back from a week in Kauai. Rented Harleys and toured the island. The ride up Waimea Canyon, their Grand Canyon, was a thrill. If you ever get a chance its a fun way to see the island.

Sorry, for some reason the beach pictures came out small and I have not been able to figure out how to enlarge them on photobucket.

Great pictures and looks like a lot of fun! I have heard it's almost cheaper to ship your own bikes over and back rather than renting, is that true?

The cost of Harley rental is expensive but worth it in my opinion. Its about $180 per day for 8am to 6pm. This is about the same cost all over the US.

Interesting it cost more per day for the Harley than for the rental car for the whole week!

It is a very different way to see the Garden Island, Kauai. You see so much more on a bike, smell all the flowers and soak up the wonderfull sunshine. Worth your time if you get the chance. Recommend it highly.

I've been pandering the thought of renting Harley's to the Japanese tourists here on Guam. Just wish I could speak Japanese...kinda of a sales necessity.

Do the roads on Hawaii turn slick as ice when it rains there?

You could hire a salesperson who speaks Japanese.

I did not notice any problems with the roads in Kauai. We only ran into the rain at the higher elevations up Waimea Canyon while on the Harleys. It is a profitable business for the dealerships and others. There are three places that rent Harleys in Kauai and the island has only 62,000 residents.

It rains often in Kauai so it may wash off any salt spray that accumulates. We experienced lots of rain in the car around the beaches and I did not notice any wheel spining or loss of traction when braking.

I do know what you are referring to. In Miami one time I slid through a traffic light in a light rain. Had plenty of time to stop but it was the first rain of the season and it was like the road was covered with Owl Poop!
