So I was flipping through the channels earlier...

and there was a show on about California wildfires. And the narrator says "The chemical makeup of many of the plant cause them to burn like gasoline."


So the big question is.. why aren't we using those plants to run cars?

    because agribusiness convinced someone that its a smart idea to use corn for fuel [V]

    now that I think about it I read something about the Soviets having wood-burning trucks during WWII...actually the idea was incomplete combustion of the wood, and the resulting gasses were burned in an internal-combustion engine.
    I think they were pretty rare though, with domestic and American lend-lease gasoline trucks making up most of the Soviet Army.

    simple...narrator was jerk that has never been outside city limits & doesn't know squat about anything but CAN read a script & collect a paycheck

    Funny how they always try to stop the fires. The forests in Calif and southern Oregon are made up of plants that need fire. Its good for the forest. By not letting the Occassional fire burn they are letting the undergrowth get to a point that instead of a small fire they have a major one.

    forest fires are a natural and healthy renewal of the forest
