Glock Accident

My friend is in a firearms training program and just yesterday told me the instructor was teaching the firearms class and the instructors Glock seriously malfunctioned. He told me the instructor fired a round: the cartridge fired, the bullet shout out, the shell failed to eject, BUT the big thing is the rear of the gun (that tab looking part in the very rear) blew out the back and seriously cut the instructor across the face under his eye. My friend said the first reaction was "who shot the instructor?" but I guess it is under investigation by glock and the ammunition company.

that "tab" you refer to it is blocked by 3 inches of steel between the chamber, and is not in direct contact with any part of the gun that could cause the amount of pressure that would be required to do that, unless the gun was not assembled back correctly, then i would doubt it could happen unless it was modified

i am willing to bet that this was operator error. he probably tried to detail strip and reassemble the gun, but missed a step along the way. bout the only way this could have happened.

its a shame though. a great gun design will probably take the hit for an incompetent user.

Almost impossible to imagine the slide cover plate comming off. Reloads or not, the whole story is not being told here. Even if the cover was not installed properly.

Sounds like it fired out of battery.

Here is a start : Glocks suck. -- At least with JMB there is something to respect. It's hard to worship at the shrine of metal reinforced tupperware. Glocks aren't even microwave safe..[xx(]

Back when I was married, one of our tupperware containers got a crack in it. I took it out of the fridge, when it split open splattering spaghetti sauce all over the kitchen.

a gunshop owner friend o mine told me a nice lil tale.

apparently a guy had a fire in is house, and though the guns were in a safe and not directly exposed to the flames, the glock turned into a very interesting black puddle with nice lil metal shapes sticking out. Expensive paper weight eh?

I beleive the others were a S&W revolver that needed minor precautionary work and a 1911 style that also just needed some minor work to be brough back up to spec on the springs etc.

    *stirs a lil bit*[:D]

I saw that happen in a movie, so I know exactly what happened. The guy must have left his gun in the freezer for several days and then it became like a large ice cube and when he fired it, the gun melted and blew apart, or its just another case of unwarranted glock bashing.
