It seems they practised... controlled burn..

To avoid having to demolish it by hand afterwards.. [:D]

    Yeah, firedrills are fun.
I'm a certified fire/rescue too with a course built on top that allows me to plan and carry out fullscale firedrills.
Nothing professional - but the basics are covered through my education.

Did the local police force shoot it "Swiss Style" for SWAT practice first?

Can people donate structures for this training? My parents have an old house on their land in PA that may fit the bill. Win-win for all![:)]

a local millionaire bought a ranch here in town a few years back and decided he didn't like the (huge)house and barns that another millionaire had built about 10 years earlier so he had the local fire department and some of the smaller volunteer fireman to come and burn his house down. there was a lot of trouble with the neighbors and everyone else. they thought it was a bad idea. a buddy of mine was one of the volunteers there. he sad it was awesome. they would start small fires, go in and put them out. at the end the just torched the whole thing. i wish i could have seen it.[8D]

They don't like to do a "controlled burn" here. We tried to have an old house burnt down, even offered to buy the beer for the firemen/women and have a heck of a weinie roast afterwards. Nope. Only way they could do it was if we removed every shingle on the house; if there was lead paint, it would have to be removed; any abestos in the house (if any) would have to be professionally removed, etc. Said if we did all that, and secured a permit from the EPA, they would be happy to come burn it down. We dug a big hole and filled it up with house; shingles, lead paint, abestos be damned. [:D]
