Taco Bell is an American company, owned by Americans and largely staffed by them.
Boycotting it only hurts Americans.
If you pay a Mexican to clean your home (or cut your grass, etc) then you have no right to complain about Mexicans coming to the USA for jobs!
In all the times I've been there, I've never seen a Hispanic working or eating. Wonder why? Oh well.
at a time BUT I'm going to take the time to drive around and survey
the businesses that are closed because of releasing their illegals
for the protest. Being where I am - San Diego - I'd imagine there
are going to be a lot!
Home Depot is already on my list - I'm going to be going to
Dixieline or Lowe's, exclusively, even though they are farther
from the house. Each boycotted business will get a personalized
letter from the family members - there are quite a few of us -
fifty years of Californians, three hundred fifty four years of Americans!

You're hurting American companies in the process. You're also hurting LEGAL immigrant businesses, with owners who often DESPISE illegal immigrants, because the illegals circumvent the legal process that these legal immigrants took the time, expense and energy to endure.
If a legal immigrant is offended at the notion of illegal immigration, I'm very much in favor of steering as much money possible in that direction. These legal immigrants are our best ammunition -- I was pleased to no end to read story after story after story in this morning's Rocky Mountain News about legal immigrants who refused to take part in the demonstrations because they KNOW how wrong the demonstrations are. While I don't need tailoring done by the Hmong tailor listed in this morning's paper, I'm going to keep her in mind should the need arise. I'll be heading over to the Russian restaurant (I don't even like Russian food) for lunch because the owner, a recent immigrant himself, was totally outraged over what will happen today.
List companies like Home Depot and Chipolte that demonstrate they are symapthetic to the illegal immigrant cause or are shutting down business today. I'll not give them my business.
I won't, however, take part in a boycott when I don't have facts to support reasons for a boycott.
You're hurting American companies in the process. You're also hurting LEGAL immigrant businesses
Question.
How is a LEGAL immigrant business LEGAL when it hires ILLEGAL workers?
Your logic is AMAZINGLY complicated, I see![:(!]
If you would like ... I can further simplify it for YOU![:(!]

You assume that the legal immigrant business hires illegals. If you've got proof, I'll boycott that business. But, it is wrong of you to assume that a legal immigrant doesn't follow the law and, in turn, hires illegals.
If you've found businesses where this happens, it is your duty to call ICE and report it, and FWIW you can report it to us as well and, I, at the very least, will not do business with that company.
My logic is not amazingly complicated. Rather, I simply demand proof that a business is engaged in illegal activity and do not hang my hat on foolish, biased assumptions. Not only is that fair, but it is the AMERICAN way of doing things.
You know, the whole "innocent until proven guilty" pesky thing that is supposed to be guaranteed ("supposed to" being the key terms) by our court system.
So, yeah, I'll take you up on your challenge. Go ahead and simplify it to me... but I'd like to see proof behind your assertions. Oh yeah, "proof" should include proof that your viewpoint is the standard and that my viewpoint is the exception to the rule... so "It is common knowledge" is a lousy place to start.
What I won't do, for you or for K or for anyone else, is use a broad brush to paint entire group of people (unless we want to talk about child abusers, prisoners, or liberals ) negatively and impact them financially just because YOU say it is so.
To do otherwise would be completely illogical. Nothing complicated about it.

Tyson Foods is shutting down 12 plants today,so their workers can demonstrate.

Thank you. This is fine, I have no problem boycotting Tyson foods.
May 1st, hmmmmmmmmm, I wonder what that reason
could be????
Hmmmmmmm. I dunno!
... and I remind you IF you missed it the first time!
1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.
2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
4. Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.
6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.
10. In L.A.County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish (10.2 million people in L.A.County).
(All 10 above compiled from articles in the Los Angeles Times)
1. Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare.
2. Over 70% of the United States annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York) results from immigration.
3. The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was a NET (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay) $70 BILLION a year, [source: Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University].
4. The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a NEGATIVE.
5. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.
We are a bunch of fools for letting this crap continue.[:(!]
Hate to inform you of this, and I know Californians have a habit of thinking that the entire nation revolves around California, but different parts of this country experience different things.
Not ten years ago, bumper stickers citing, "Don't Californicate Colorado" were common. Then, after we were flooded with Californians, those stickers fell out of favor.
Again, cite proof for companies, one at a time, and I'll join in on your boycott. Meanwhile, what you've cited (and I merely have to take your word on it since you provide no links) that you've provided is germane for California.
FWIW, your 70% population growth cites immigration, not illegal immigration. You and some others tend to forget that not ALL immigration is ILLEGAL immigration.
Hate to inform you that the Boarder Patrol says it has " ... NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THE
FLOODS OF ILLEGALS HEADING ACROSS THE BORDER SINCE THE WORD 'AMNESTY' WAS
USED BY THE PRESIDENT A FEW WEEKS AGO!"
They ain't gonna stay in the Southwest long, genius - the construction market is already
filled by them. Most have less than a third grade education - their kids won't either, after YOU and I send them all to school with our tax $$$!
I wonder where they will go - home??? LOL

Again, so what? And, why have you now lowered yourself to name-calling? Because you're frustrated?
Now, since you're soooooooooooooooooooo smart (I'll use your term, "genius"), if you'd pull a map out, you might discover that (gasp!) Colorado is actually part of the Southwest! OH MY GOSH... proving my point that a number of Californians think the world revolves around them when, in fact, it does not.
I'm not suggesting that we don't have an illegal immigration problem, and I'm not suggesting anything of the sort. Colorado does have one, because agriculture is a major industry in the state, and I-25 and I-70 are major conduits for the illegal immigration trade.
I am, however (and apparently, unlike you) smart enough to recognize that there are two types of immigration: legal and illegal. From each and every single one of your statements in this thread, want me to punish LEGAL and LAW ABIDING immigrants because there is some chance that they MIGHT hire illegals, yet you have ZERO PROOF of that assertion.
I do not wish to harm those immigrants who are legal and law abiding.
And, just to make this perfectly clear before you delve into another storm of stupidity, I am 100% against illegal immigrants. I think that any and all illegal immigrants should be rounded up and given a one-way ticket back to their home countries, whether they be Mexico, France, England or Uranus. I think we should 100% wall-in (not fences, I want walls) in the border and have armed patrols all over the border, not just in "select" areas.
I'm also 100% against granting amnesty to people who have broken our laws just because it is too expensive to send them home.
I am very much anti-illegal immigration. I will not, however, punish law-abiding people just because you've an axe to grind against Mexicans.
yep
I have noticed in Oregon that almost every resturant has Mexican workers in the kitchens and for cleanup, busing tables, etc. So to boycott you would have to avoid almost all resturants except for the high end places. I don't believe you could hurt the Mexicans just the businesses that choose to employ them.
There are very few Mexican owned and operated businesses except for taco stands that cater direct to other Mexicans. So It is difficult to know how to have much of an impact.

Pssst! You're the one who has his head buried in the sand. Plus, you look pretty foolish, too.

Yep! THAT'S true! TRUE, TRUE, and TRUE!
But once an enemy is defined and identified it is your duty to do what you can to
resist. If I find ten places have released their employees to support the demise of
America ... it's my duty to avoid them at all costs and deal with those who don't.
Pretty clear cut to me.
Amnesty (the first of countless) = a pretty fast transformation for America ... into a Third World Country.

...Last I heard, the cost here...$1,200 per man, woman, and child per year...for how many years now???? I'd love to have what it has cost my family over the last almost 40 years!
...There is a false premise that the mexcans are ENTITLED to something, JUST because they're here, wrong, as illegals, they should not be entitled to ANYTHING. Here, in Texas they have been treated with a wink and a nod, bs, EVERYONE I know, are TIRED of them.
...Build a wall, put the NG on the border, and shut down the flood of illegals and dope...THEN work on rounding up and documenting the ones here, deport them if need be. What?? We can't find and deport 11+ million people! Why not? If they were Al Quieda, we could find them. After the border is locked down, empty the state and Federal pens (estimates of what, 38% are more in the joint are illegals?) of all the illegal criminals, THAT would pay for the manpower and wall construction. Take a bath, learn English...and then go home a better person. If a 3rd grade education, and stupid makes for a GREAT work force and a super power, there are crap holes all around the world that should be POWERHOUSES!...[:p]
I agree with you EXCEPT: I have had enough dealings with U.S. Immigration to firmly believe that for every one Mexican that enters the country legally, 100 Mexicans enter the country illegally. I respect any legal immigrant, but let's not pretend that it is anything like a 1 to 1 issue. It isn't! If you hear a Mexican speaking Spanish and if they cannot speak English, you can bet winning odds that they are here illegally!
The best, fastest way to make illegal invaders go home is to HEAVILY fine anyone that employs them. Two violations and you do JAIL TIME!
The often touted 8,000,000 - 12,000,000 number that has been
thrown around ... THAT number was derived from the 2000
census ...and then projected for the year 2005! LOL
Can you see illegals chasing the census takers down the street
screaming - "No! No! WAIT! Let me sign up, too, senior!"
What a bunch a dopes dummies we Americans have become!
There was one garage - must have been a big'un - that had a
reported 100 illegals standing around in it during the recent
rains up in East Los Angeles! ... L.A. Times
... I doubt if any had reported their stay with us to the
census takers! LOL
Here in NC, the legislature just passed a law allowing ILLEGALS to attend state funded universities as state residents....I cannot quite grasp that one either so some of you geniuses gonna have to 'splain it.
I am not the intellectual that spaniel is so I am gonna have to just say that I know what I know....this problem of illegal immigration is huge...and appears to be getting huger...and will eventually create a burden on our governmental agencies that we will not be able to handle!

I don't believe for a second that it is a 1:1 ratio. I know that the number of illegal immigrants is far greater than the number of legal ones.
My problem stems from not wanting to harm the legal immigrants (and, much to K and zipperzap's dismay, many Mexican immigrants are here legally), especially those legal immigrants who are law-abiding and despise illegals.
ask the HISPANICS.....especially the legal ones. They will tell you that ILLEGAL immigration to the US is a HUGE problem. Gosh, I have a great customer that immigrated from El Salvador (legally) and started a small construction business. He now does very well and is appalled with the notion of the boycott. A realist, this guy knows the burden that taking care of the ILLEGAL immigrants puts on the backs of LEGAL and hard working people.

LOL. I don't claim to be an intellectual. I simply wish for people to back up what they say with facts instead of promoting their opinion as fact.
I'll agree with you that the problem is huge and only getting bigger. FWIW, I don't think our governmental agencies handle it well at all. They might, however, if they stepped up and actually did the job that we, the American taxpayer, pay them to do.
I'm curious if we went ahead and privatized the border patrol if they wouldn't do a far superior job to what is being done now.
