The vast majority of buyers (including me) will skip over reserve auctions. They become a frustrating guessing game. I would suggest you either post your reserve or relist your auction with the minimum you will accept with no reserve. JMO.

I agree with Spider. I don't understand why a reserve is such a big secret.

I'll bid on a reserve auction, but only what I think I'm willing to pay, just like with any other auction. If my bid doesn't meet the reserve, well, good luck to the seller.

I don't play games when I bid. I just put up my top dollar and end it at that. Either I'll not hit the high bid, or I'll make the high bid and win, or I'll make the high bid but get sniped.

There's very few unique items in this world, and if I miss out, there will always be someone else selling what I need.

Won it in a raffle huh? It only has 10 miles on it.
Why have a reserve at all, you got it for what, a $10 ticket?
Or are you trying to get the MSRP out of it, and don`t want bidders to know that?

Don't know why some are so opposed to doing it like this, but they
act like a reserve is the plague or something.

Nice bike. Send it to me, and I'll reimburse ticket, registration,
    ebay fees and shipping.

But I usually wait until the closing seconds to bid.
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

I don't usually have the time or inclination to do that on my day-to-day purchases. On stuff I **REALLY** want, I'll try sniping. But, for the most part, the day-to-day stuff there's a jillion of and I'm bidding on nine or ten of the same stuff.

Sure! It's what you are willing to take on the bottom end so you may get someone to bid at least that amount. What it the hid bid was $10 under the reserve? Some guy might stop when he was willing to go $10 more bucks. Tell them. It doesn't hurt and it might get them to start a bidding war!

...why not just place a higher starting price instead of a reserve? You won it, anything over the ticket price you paid is a profit.

What are you going to have to pay in income taxes on it? Probably about 18% of msrp or around $2,800.00 plus state income tax. I'd start it at $8,000.00 in cycle trader.com with no reserve and let it do what it is going to do.

Donate it to a charity and take the full MSRP as a deduction.

Put the reserve IN the auction. Otherwise, you are just pissing in the wind. People HATE reserve auctions. Most won't bid on them, unless they know the reserve. Reserves on ebay are stupid, because it cost you MORE money. Just start the thing at what amount of money you want, and keep the reserve fee.
