I just mailed off for my C&R license. Is there anything I need to know about having this license or will a list of rules come with the license? I've heard talk about a Bound Book. What exactly is that? Any info would be appericated. Mike.

You will get a large book listing general firearm laws state by state, a smaller book listing all firearms classified as C/R, as well as a variety of other miscellaneous papers and forms.

You will have to make your own bound book or buy a pre-made one. I downloaded a template from some website and printed off my own. All you need is one of those three-ring binders, and that counts as a bound book.

Thanks. If anyone has a link to this template, please let me know what it is.

Congratulations. When you get your license DO NOT SIGN THE ORIGINAL. Make copies- you will sign the copies as you use them. Send a copy to wholesalers you like- they will keep on file for when you order. cruffler.com (slang for C&R FFL is cruffler) has some good info for you. My bound volume sells for a buck or so at Dollar General. It is a stitched journal type book. Line in the columns for required info, setting up one section for acquisitions, and another for dispositions. Do some reading, come on back when ya have questions.

Heres a PDF file showing what the bound book should look like: http://www.cruffler.com/boundbook2.pdf

As you can see, there are seperate pages for "aquisitions" and "depositions" (C&R stuff you buy, and C&R stuff you sell, respectively). This isn't the template i was looking for, this one appears to be a simple scan of a hardcopy. I'll keep looking though.

I took a different direction and put all the info on Excel. I just print a new copy when I make a change and put it in the binder. Then no one has to try to read my chicken-scratch hand writing.

I have the format for both pages of the bound book (which I use) and it's in Excell. If you wish, email me and I'll send it to you.

What I do is number and print the acquisition page (make about 3 or 4 pages) and then on the opposite side, number and print the disposition page. This way there cannot be any insertion of a different page which is what the BATF wants. Punch holes and place in a 3-ring binder. Keep the masters on Excell so you have them available for additional pages.

    Enjoy the CRFFL.
