I work in an after school program at a local jr High school. On monday one of our regular students, Ariel Sanchez was not there. Today she was back. I asked her where she was on monday. She said she was at the capital (Lansing) protesting. I asked her what she was protesting. She didn't know. I thought that was kinda funny. Now granted she is a 6th grader, but 6th graders aren't dumb (you should hear some of the conversations we overhear, if I posted their content this would get poofed) Her parents just didn't bother to explain to her why they were protesting. Now as far as I know her family is here legally. They are well established, they aren't migrant workers, although those are common here in west Michigan. Shes actually one of the better students in the program. But I just find it hilarious that she didn't know why she was doing what she was doing. I guess sheep come in all colors huh?

I think she just wanted to avoid your question -
didn't feel it was any of your business.[8D]
The kids they interviewed from Los Angeles acted as if this was nothing more than a combination "school ditch day" and "Latino Pride day". It was pathetic. They hear so many lies and politically charged statements on Spanish radio and television that they think this is a Whites vs. Latino issue and don't even realize we are angry about economics and sovereignty. Many speak so little English that they probably will never understand why people want to drive them out and keep more from coming here. Local illegal alien activists and the Mexican government do everything in their power to misconstrue the issue so that U.S. politicians have to constantly defend against charges of racism rather than actually address the real problems.
I've heard MANY radio interviews with illegal aliens on Monday. Not one could list any of the major points in the House and Senate bills that are being debated. Most thought this was about race. All of the students that were interviewed spewed clich?s like "Stop racism!", "It's wrong to deport people", etc. etc. Not one complained about the possibility of being made a felon.

Your post did a great job of explaining what I was trying to say. Thank you.
