As recently as Sept 2013, an angry Democrat named Aaron Alexis shot 12 at the Washington Navy Shipyard in Washington, D.C.

Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns.

Not one NRA member, Tea Party member, or Republican conservative was involved in any of these shootings and murders.

SOLUTION : It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.

.makes sense to me! -

I am not democrap, or a liberal, but I would like to see how that stacked up against republicans and conservatives, before I rushed to judgement. I know, it was a kinda-sorta-light hearted thing, but it's just the kind of thing that can get your * handed to you if you post it, and don't have all the facts.

It's a pile of crap. Self fulfilling delusions designed to keep people from voting Republican.

Just a few examples, I haven't got all night to shovel the full pile.

Booth was a member of the Know Nothing Party. A briefly lived splinter of the Whig Party. All of which held positions that any Republican would appreciate today, not counting the anti-Catholic leanings. Even so, those were actually anti-immigrant, as the Catholics in question were Irish and Germans coming to the USA in substantial numbers. The Know Nothings and other branches of the Whigs eventually merged into the Republican Party.

Charles Guiteau was a failure at everything he did but was crazy enough to imagine himself personally responsible for President Garfield's election. So when he could not land a patronage job, he wanted to be named ambassador to France, he decided to kill Garfield and become known and famous for that. Guiteau had supported Republican candidates, he was not a Democrat.

The claim about Lanza and most of the list (perhaps all) was dreamed up by Roger Hedgecock, a former San Diego politician turned lobbyist. He based his conclusion on the ratio of Democrats to Republicans in that state. Problem is, Hedgecock should have dug deeper. As the district Lanza lived in was majority Republican and went to Romney.

But this is all academic isn't it? The real point is that the Republican core membership is so delusional that they would rather spout off asinine crap and scare voters away than win elections.

After all, they can always pretend the other side cheated.

Sort of a political version of Munchhausen by Proxy.

Not contesting any of the information, but, I don't see McKinley listed. I understand he was shot by a supporter that didn't get the expected spoils job- which since McKinley was a Republican would mean the assailant at least supported Republicans. My experience with people is that no political party has the exclusive rights to AHs or Morons, which is probably a good thing.

I bought a hand gun from Adam Lanza's mother, about 6 months before her son did his carnage. The gun was sold on the GB auction side. I spoke to her on the phone twice, concerning shipping. She was very liberal in her thinking, at least that is the impression I got in a very brief time we spoke.

Both sides in this absurd and destructive political divide have loud elements who do nothing but constantly race each other to the bottom. Insults made for the sake of a visceral rush, made up "facts", scare tactics, purity tests and worse. It is a merry-go-round of fools pretending the other side started it all. It is a celebration of the lie that two wrongs do make a right, that all we need to do to set things right is make up a bigger pile of crap in the center of that merry-go-round and we will be the victor.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, one side is paying attention to the shifting demographics of the American Electorate by seeking those voters to their points of view. While the other side is pushing away every voter it possibly can and wrapping themselves in the imagined security blanket of of their own lies, made up facts and purity testing.

The end result is one side has a long term hope of increasing success. The other side has the long term hope that they can always blame their failures on somebody else.

There was a reason my grandfather didn't allow politics or religion discussed in his home.
