My wife is going through a hard time with her cancer treatments and emotionally dealing with everything surrounding it. I'd really appreciate it if you could pray for the both of us to help see us through this. Thank you

This is my friends niece. All prayers are appreciated.

    quote:Dear Friends and Family,

I hope this note doesn't seem too impersonal, but with everything we are trying to cope with right now, it's easier to try and explain in writing than in person. First of all, thank you all for your prayers over the past few weeks for our baby and the dr. appointment we had yesterday. We felt your prayers and it really gave us hope. Gods timing is not our timing right now. So we want to tell you all what we found out. We went to see a specialist yesterday for the baby. We had a two hour ultrasound and heartbreakingly, the news is very scary.

First of all the cyst the 1st dr. saw on the brain is still present and the specialist isn't sure it's a cyst. If it is, it should go away in a couple of weeks; but if not then it could be that the left part of the brain did not form correctly and could have caused brain or neurological damage that we cannot know until birth.

Second, her hands appear to be clenched or clept. The dr. thinks that this could be a indicator of a chromosomal disease called Trisomy 18. Basically it's the only chromosomal defect worse than downs and if she has this there is little if any chance for survival; if she would make it to term.

Thirdly, her heart is very damaged. The left side of the heart is too small and is not receiving or pumping enough blood to organs such as the lungs, etc. If she can carry to term; she would have to undergo multiple open heart surgeries immediately to try and expand this left side. We have to go see a specialist in Peoria, IL on the 31st to evaluate the heart defects further and tell us if they think she's even a candidate for the surgery. She also has a fluid pocket around her heart. IF this enlarges, it could cause the baby to go into cardiac arrest and the prognosis is bad.

All I can say is please pray for us. Pray for this precious little girl that she will survive and that God would perform a miracle in her life that before she is born he would heal all her wounds. To be honest I don't really know how to function right now. Keith and I both feel as though part of our life and dream has been taken away. This innocent life has so many things wrong; and the only one that can save her is God. Obviously we just found out about this yesterday; so today we are still in a fog. We know that we have to go on for Mallory and for this precious child. We already love her no matter what; and when the doctor asked us if we wanted to terminate the pregnancy; I didn't even let him finish his sentence. We just want the chance for her to live so we can love her. Again all we can do is pray - and please do so. Pray for healing, pray for strength and guidance for Keith and I as we will have a lot of decisions to make. If the baby makes it to delivery - we will have to deliver in Peoria, IL which is about 3 hours away so the cardiac specialists can be there. It's very tough, because I feel her move every minute - and knowing the struggles that lay in store is hard to deal with.

I have included a little info. on Trisomy 18 below. We won't know for certain if she has this until at least 34 weeks (10 weeks from now) when they do the amnio. They don't want me to have the amnio until there is a better chance for survival-which is why the 34 week mark. As hard as it is for us to believe and trust right now; that truly is all we can do. Please pass this on to your churches, prayer chains, everyone you know who will pray for our precious baby girl.

    Thank You,

    Becky and Keith Ames
