May be some straw purchases but FFL dealers here in SC are tough.

(Orangeburg) - Right around the time Woody's pawnshop opened its doors Monday morning, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was making an announcement.
"This morning, we filed suit in Federal Court for the Eastern District of NY against 15 gun dealers who sold guns illegally," said Mayor Bloomberg.
Woody's pawnshop is listed as one of those gun dealers. New York City officials say they've traced 98 crime-related guns used from 1994-2001 back to the Orangeburg pawnshop. That's more than any of the 15 pawnshops named nationwide.
The store has operated in Orangeburg for 35 years. They say the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives heavily regulates them. They also told us everyone who buys a gun there must have a state drivers license and undergo a federal background check.
Still, Mayor Bloomberg says they've been engaged in bad business.
"These dealers are the worst of the worst," said New York's mayor. "They were either intentionally or negligently selling handguns in a matter than violates federal law."
Said Woody's manager Chan Holman, "We haven't intentionally sold any guns to people that shouldn't have them . we can't control what people do with their guns after they buy them here. We do everything we can here to put them in the right hands."
Mayor Bloomberg said dealers like Woody's are largely to blame for the crime in New York City.
"Firearms are used in roughly 60% of all the murders committed in our city," said Bloomberg. "Virtually all the guns to commit those murders are illegally possessed."
At Woody's pawn, they're having a hard time believing they're the ones behind any of it.
There is one more shop in South Carolina that made the list: Mickalis pawn in Summerville. They had 49 crime-related guns traced back to them.

In 100% of cases the firearm crime "could" be traced back to a criminal.
Im not saying that these FFL dealers did not do some shady dealings, just pointing out that statistics say what you want them to say and can always be rearranged to suit your needs.
The criminals (more than likely) had every person they could get go in a buy guns LEGALLY...and then used those LEGALLY PURCHASED guns to commit crimes, or sold them to others who paid more for and "off the books" gun.
Rather than go after the criminals....they are going after the guns (again.) They should go through the 4473's and prosecute the PEOPLE....not the system.
Why doesnt he put the blame where it belongs, on the low life scum in his city that are committing these crimes.. Again blame the GUN..
What an Idiot...
NO GUNS = NO CRIME, what a crock of BS..This butt hole needs to get his stats straight,, more crimes with a knife in new york than guns..[:0]
That says it all right there.
