List it or send it to be fixed?

An FN five seven pistol.....looks great....but the little "U" shaped spring to the mag release button is gone.

I just want to let it go....I'm tempted to just list it "as is"....but I don't know how badly this silly little part will hurt the sale.

I'm sure FN will fix it for free....but I'm covered up with work and just don't want to deal with it.

Box it up and ship it out to FN

Takes just as much time as it does to ship after an auction sale, probably do the RMA or whatever online, and you can deal with selling it when it comes back in a few months.

I would hope that it wouldn't be a few months......I got a Springfield back that had to have a flaw in the finish fixed in less than two weeks.

Sell something that is broken.

I read on a few forums that it is a real pain to get back in place. I am the WORST at repairing even simple things.....so I know better than to try. If I bought the part it is $35 at the most. I just need the spring, but the kit comes with the spring and mag release button.

I would fix it, or have it fixed. You will take a BIG hit on anything you sell that needs repair. My two cents FWIW.

Do you have a local gunsmith that could fix it for you?

A few dollars and a few hours might have a better payoff than FN fixing the pistol.

I will have to check around. There aren't many gunsmiths left that can just do a quick fix. Just about everyone that I know of has MONTHS of back logged repairs.....crazy.

Anyone that is a decent gunsmith could make great money here in Alabama

You know me.....it'll go for a penny with no reserve no matter what.

I may give FN a call tomorrow and see if I can get a turnaround on a simple fix like this.....if it is short I may send it in, but if it is a LONG wait I will get them to send me the part.

Maybe I can get someone to put the little sucker in? If not....I can (at least) say it comes with the part to fix the mag release.

I've purchased a firearm on Gunbroker that was not functioning properly.

It wasn't disclosed in the auction discription. I was disappointed.

I'd encourage you to only list firearms that are functional, or identify it as a 'parts' gun. Like put "broken" or "missing pieces" in the title.

If you don't think it is worth fixing, why should anyone else?

get it fixed, yes it might take a bit of time but then when you sell it you can honestly state that the gun is perfect and just recieved a full checkup by FN, that might be a big selling point
