Since I live in Georgia, which was part of the CSA with Texas, can I immigrate to Texas??

Seriously though, after the 'War of Northern Aggression,' Texas sued through the courts to still secede from the USA. Texas' position was since Texas had been a country when she joined the USA, she should be allowed to go back to being a country. (at the time, Texas was the only state to have previously been a country before applying for admission to the USA.)

The case wound it's way through the Federalis Court System and in 1868, the US Supreme Court ruled against Texas' right to secede.

Maybe they lost their smarts in the interim years.

    KSU,

    I too agree.

Of course, I would have thought that the freedom-loving people of the United States would have had the sense to pick Dr. Paul over Obama or McCain, but evidently, there are very few freedom-loving people left.

As I recall, the Southern states retained the right to secede from the Union also. See how that went for them.

With "DUMBYA" as dick-tator that nation would last less than a month.

Texas gave their right to leave the federation in 1984. They also gave up the right to divide into up to 5 states. Most of texas are like the liberal Califorinas, alot of hot air. Lived there for 25 years. Over 1/2 the state is liberal. I know y'll"them thar be fight'n words" oh but so true.

quote:#2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas ..Awesome! He can bankrupt another nation and maybe launch another incredibly wasteful, expensive, and divisive war for no good reason! Golly gee, that's gonna be fun!

The only bad thing is Texas has no aircraft carriers for the war hero to land on! So sad![:(]

Now that would be good news for Haliburton. They would get to build a fence all the way round Texas, with border checkpoints at regular intervals.
    Passports please.
