I think you are serious about this one. I've seen locked accounts before, but this is the first time I've seen you kill a user name. [:D]

I looked at her profile. Her user name is n/a now. It looks like her other posts have gone away too. She ain't just locked or gone, she never existed. [:D] [:D] [:D]

Did anybody call he/she/it 'comrade' first, then lock/poof?

I didn't delete the account. All I did was lock the account, and then remove the spam this "member" had posted.

CaptFun did the rest, after I told him what I had done.

I had just finished typing some of my best stuff. Quite possibly the most brilliant post to ever hit the internet. Then I hit "post new reply" and got the dreaded "There's a problem" message. [:D]

    Missed this one too!

To serve as as an example or guideline if you will, there should be a list of recently locked, poofed or put to death topics.[;)][:D]

I don't remember what her user name was, but it's "n/a" now. If you look for "n/a" on the member list, she's the one with 17 posts, and her LAST POST was today. [:D]

I don't think you'll find any of the 17 posts, by the way.

You think that's bad? There have been times when I was typing a brief reply to lock a thread and when I clicked the "Post New Reply" button, I got that message. Someone else beat me to the punch.

How do we know the user violated the rules if all the posts went poof?

The member was posting a link to a website that offers on-line payday loans. Big no-no.

Member got on here some time ago, and made a few innocuous posts on several threads, just to give him/her an air of credibility. Then, some months later, the member resurrected a thread about payday loans, and went to work trying to sell them.

I did my job, and CaptFun did his, when he found out that this member wasn't registered on the auction site.

Absolutely no arguement here from this quarter. It is quite evident what that person was doing and also explains why some of the entries on previous threads seemed more than a bit "off" when posted.

The individual had their own agenda and it was not beneficial to anyone but themselves and dishonest to boot. Good action by all GB staff involved with putting the stop to the scam, hopefully that sort of action will continue more frequent and speedily. Great call.[^]

Helpful? I wasnt trying to be helpful.

I wasnt aware that James was asking for an explanation since
I dont see James question asking for help or an explanation in any of his above posts.

    ...hope this helps...[;)]

O-C..if I recall the explanation correctly, once a poster has a few legitimate posts (or at least benign), then the 'bot' mechanism won't automatically delete.

It's a way to do an end-around the bot scanner.

I think this is correct. Joe
