propane gun

Does any one know of someone that has made a auto firing gas gun. Not a weapon, but a repeating gas gun. Using propane for the report, I was using a torch and had the flame go out and had it do the rap rap rap with the gas on the hot metal, and it gave me the idea. Saw a video on youtube with one, had a guy standing in front of it with a camera. Just plain wrong, I know, no bullets comming out, but it is a gun.

I know propane cannon exist, but I have never seen one. I know they exist because some of the pecan farmers around here use them to keep the birds out of their orchards.

There is a sizable pecan orchard just east of the place where our old range was. We could often hear the reports from the cannon when we weren't shooting.

I don't know if the cannon were homemade or commercially built, but they were apparently automatic, firing at regular intervals as long as they had fuel.

top liked to bring out a propane powered m-2 and m-60 simulator. they were awesome when they worked, but were there more for his pleasure than as a training aide, they looked the part from a distance.

The Corn Farmers in NJ. use them as well.It attaches to the handle of a propane tank and works on a timer.It an be adjusted from about 1 every 30 sec. to one shot about every 5 min.
Always seemed to me,the birds got used to them,in a few days.

I just seen a thing about farmers using them things to stop hail.

Most were powered by acetylene though and shot a circular sound wave straight up into the clouds supposedly stopping hail formation somehow.

Look up the pulse jet engines, those seem like they would be kind of fun to mess with.

there was a program on tv a few weeks ago called GEARS with the host Stacy David.
he actually did what you want to a pair of 50 cals. it was really cool to see the flames come out the barrels and hear the report of rapid fire

There was a guy in Manistee Mich over 10 years ago had one that looked like a .50 cal machine gun. He mounted it on a WWII Jeep and drove it in parades. It sounded pretty realistic too. One night while working on it in his shop someone reported gunfire. The new chief of police raided his shop and took it. They had to return it because it was considered a simulator.

Wyoming Game and Fish have used them for years to put near haystacks to keep elk,deer, and moose out of them. Ones I saw were definitely commerically made.
