I've been putting off having a new windshield installed in my 2003 Silverado for a long time. I finally had so many dings and cracks I had to have it done. I dreaded it because in the past I've had more bad luck having a windshield installed in my vehicles than good luck. I won't bore you with those nightmares.

I was talking to a guy the other day about having it done and he recommended Kelly Auto Glass in McDonough, GA. That was the best tip I've had in a while.

I gave them a call and told them I wanted the same windshield that came in my truck which is made by Pilkington. The guy that owns the place said that's all they use in GM cars and trucks. I was sort of skeptical that they would have that windshield in stock instead of the cheap Chinese crap that I had been getting quotes on from other companies. A couple of other companies I contacted said they would have to order Pilkington.

Any who he gave me a quote for $210.00 for everything. I asked him 3 times just to confirm that the price included installation also.

Well I was a bit nervous because that price sounded to good to be true but I scheduled a time to have it replaced anyway. The guy showed up this morning at 9:00 AM on the dot and was finished and gone in one hour. The glass he installed was Pilkington as they quoted and the guy that installed it, Darrel, did a great job. No scratches on my truck, nothing broken, no glass in my carpet to be vacuumed out and the price was as quoted $210.00 total.

Usually I'm looking for a body shop to repair scratches after a windshield replacement but not this time. I'm a happy customer that they'll have for life now. [:)]

Wish I lived in your neighborhood. Need a windshield for my Vette. It's got so many of those tiny nicks that it gets hard to see when the sun shines directly on it. But I don't trust any of the shops around here.

I know exactly what you mean. After having 2 bad experiences with windshield replacement I put off having a windshield replaced in my '73 Vette for years. In the sun light it looked terrible but I put up with it rather than having to deal with shoddy workmanship until I finally sold the car.
