I harvested today. I took a bite off the end just to see what it tasted like and ended up eating the whole thing like an apple. I didn't think it would be that tasty. It had kind of a sweet nutty flavor. If the rest of them are this good I'll be pretty pleased with my gardening.

I'm jealous of you guys in slightly warmer areas. You have a much better growing season. I did also get some kale, jalape?os and banana peppers today also. The cukes are flowering, the tomatoes are still green, and the peas and beans are a few weeks out yet. Almost forgot. The ground cherries are starting to ripen also.

Had fresh squash a couple times myself.
Yes, raw chopped small in a salad is good too. Sometimes I do that with zucchini and yellow squash. [8D]

That does sound tasty. Usually I cook them lightly in butter or olive oil in my cast iron pan. Lately I have been sprinkling my saut?ed veggies with red wine vinegar or tarragon vinegar.

Back when I used to do gardening in Tennessee in the 60s, 70s and 80s the dirt on our property that was in the forks of the Tennessee, Holston, and French Broad Rivers was so rich that I needed a step ladder to pick ears of corn it was so tall. [:)] My Great Grandpa bought that river bottom land back in the late 19th century and it was the best soil I've ever seen. I sure wish I was still living there these days. [:(]
