last night some idiots/thugs pistol whipped my neighbor (about a half mile or so down the road) tied him up with duct tape and robbed him. they took his keys and told him they were going to wait for his wife to get home and kill her. aparently he had went down state to one of the riverboat casinos, and won a little over 3 grand. these lowlifes, followed him from the casino, ( good hour and a half to two hour drive) and robbed him at his house. the word is that they waited until he got to the house then pulled up, and clobbered him. everyone on the road is a little antsy right now.

sad thing is unless state police can identify who followed him out of the casino, odds are they wont get caught. being not from around here and all. just another reason why i pack ALL the time, unless i am not able to (places with metal detectors.)

    hate to hear that,, those type of people should be killed---s l o w l y. fortunately my neighbor is alive. and perhaps they will catch the guy.
    on a sidenote to this incident, i think i scared the crap out of the electric guy today. i was,, lets say occupied in the bathroom and all of a sudden i hear a four wheeler pull up in my drive (?) so i finish real quick and head out the door .45 in hand. dude just froze when i shouted "can i help you?!" said he was with electric company and was inspecting poles. and was trying to figure out how to get to the one behind my garage. told him how and waited at the fourwheeler for him to return. i then told him, "i aint trying to be a pr---, but you should really let someone know before you go prowling around their property" then i explained to him that people are a little on the defensive side right now because of what happened. dude, tells me, "yeah i know, a lady down the road told me what happened." i thought man,,, not a very wise thing to do

    The casino should have video of the people entering/leaving, as well as parking lot video.

    Those guys will talk about it. They'll get caught.

    I hate to sound paranoid ,but I get out of my truck with gun in hand .
    I want everyone to see it !
    My neighbors and I always call each other before visiting,so we won't be met at the door by a cocked gun .
    Don't like to live like this , but it is the prudent thing to do .

    How did he not notice a car following him for two hours? Either way I hope they catch the idiots and your neighbor starts carrying.

    If i won that kind of money my first stop would be the bank, even if it was closed, I would still drop it in the ATM.

    stay safe, keep them loaded

    came home at night, probably didnt realize it was the same car. maybe knowing there is a car back there, but thinking its different then the one that was back there 20 minutes ago. lets face it, most everyday persons do not think to look for a tail.

    my wife thinks i am paranoid, but i suspect everyone of fixen to do something stupid. i get it from my dad. he litterally told me "son, you have to watch people, and figure that at any moment they are going to do something stupid. and you dont want to be involved in it, but you'll be prepared if you are."

    seriously? not to be a smart * but where do you live?
    I have not taken my personal security to anywhere near that level but maybe I should start. God knows I have become a lot less capable of protecting myself *.
    is it legal to carry a loaded pistol in a holster that is clearly visable if you don't have a ccw?
    this is washingtons law but I don't understand it;
    RCW 9.41.270
    Weapons apparently capable of producing * harm - Unlawful carrying or handling - Penalty - Exceptions.

    (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to carry, exhibit, display, or draw any firearm, dagger, sword, knife or other cutting or stabbing instrument, club, or any other weapon apparently capable of producing * harm, in a manner, under circumstances, and at a time and place that either manifests an intent to intimidate another or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons.

    (2) Any person violating the provisions of subsection (1) above shall be guilty of a gross misdemeanor. If any person is convicted of a violation of subsection (1) of this section, the person shall lose his or her concealed pistol license, if any. The court shall send notice of the revocation to the department of licensing, and the city, town, or county which issued the license.

    (3) Subsection (1) of this section shall not apply to or affect the following:

    (a) Any act committed by a person while in his or her place of abode or fixed place of business;

    (b) Any person who by virtue of his or her office or public employment is vested by law with a duty to preserve public safety, maintain public order, or to make arrests for offenses, while in the performance of such duty;

    (c) Any person acting for the purpose of protecting himself or herself against the use of presently threatened unlawful force by another, or for the purpose of protecting another against the use of such unlawful force by a third person;

    (d) Any person making or assisting in making a lawful arrest for the commission of a felony; or

    (e) Any person engaged in military activities sponsored by the federal or state governments.

    Scott ;
    let me clarify .
    I meant getting out of my truck at my house .
    I had a young a-hole pull in behind me one day and got out wanting to "whip my *".
    He left rather quickly ![:D]
    I have had 3 friends murdered over the years .
    The first I have already mentioned .
    Another answered his door one night and was killed with a tire tool .
    The last stopped to help an old woman who was being robbed by 2 guys.
    Caught 2 bullets in the head for his troubles .
    I think of these people every time I answer my door .

    I have never been to a casino, but it seems to me that the liquor would flow in such a place.
    Maybe he had a few Martinis while he was winning his stash.

    the ones around here dont have the free booze that the ones in vegas, and reno have. you have to pay for alcohol and it aint a real good bargain. they do however keep you full of pop, and water. probably figure you wont play well if ya got to pee.

    yeah I don't blame you, any one of those experiences would be enough to make a guy adopt protection measures...

    I was followed once overseas, and lemme tell you I do check for tails, and I do take notice when there has been a car behind me for awhile... I am sorry to hear that about your neighbor.

    The other day my wife started feeling uneasy about being home alone (I was closing), she got out her (dads/Grandpas) revolver and carried it around the house with her which made me feel better. This gun was her grandpas which her dad handed down to her... If yall cant tell I am proud of how far my wife has come with her recent love for guns...

    We don't live in a bad neighborhood or anything, but crime does not always happen there.

    I have been trying to impress upon her some basic security/situational awareness issues, but I feel like I am beating my head against a brick wall. Thinks like:

    - When it's dark out, be in the car with the doors closed before you open the garage door.

    - Do not be on your cell when walking across a parking lot to your car. be aware of who is around you.

    This last one is important. An acquaintance, who carrys about everywhere, had a Hispanic dude come up behind him in the walmart parking lot as he was putting several bags of groceries in the car. Had a gun (he thinks) stuck in the back of his neck. He never even saw the guy. lost his wallet, cell and watch. Said he never had the chance to get his hands on the 38 in the SoB holster as his hands were in the car. Lucky the guy did not feel the gun holster when he was removing the wallet from his pocket.

    Sorry to hear about your friend. I think I'll print this for my wife to read.

    Glad to hear your neighbor is still alive. Is he a gun type guy? If not bet he is thinking about it now.

    After being raised in So. Cal. & living in NY. and now living in the "country" some of my friends think I am narrow minded and or paranoid because I always have my Kimber with me or right next to me in the car and extra loaded mags. One day a lady friend asked why. Shes the type that takes everyone at face value and belives everyone is good. I explained to her the enviroment I grew up in and how everyone is trying to run a game. It's amazing what your enviroment will teach you!

    My mom was the same way. She thought things that happened would only happen to other people and that livin' in a small town (~4500 people) would always be safe.

    Then the small county jail started takin' in prisoners from large cities to make ends meet, which brought in their usually equally problematic friends and families. Drug related crimes became widepread. Then over about a decade, the town converted from 85% caucasian to only 15% - the remainder comin' from south of the border, bringin' their gangs with 'em.

    Now,she has her permit and carries in her purse when she goes to the reservation casino on the edge of town. And she's become a dead eye to boot.

    Go Mom! I'm proud of ya!

    I highly suggest if you ever have any amount of cash, get the local yokel (or maybe county?) to meet you at a local spot, then follow you home... They do it here at least... Have them wait for another 15 mins or so before they leave.. Time to hide the money, or if you can, get it to a bank!

    Always be cautious about people following you especially when someone knows you have money, never go home if you're being followed. If you think you are being followed make 3 right turns that will take you in a circle. If they are follow you, you know you have a tail. If anyone were to pull in my driveway at night uninvited (especially right behind me when I had a large ammount of cash on me) they would be looking down the barrell of a gun.

    pees on all that law and code and poop. i say, carry from your house to your car openly. Secure your vehicle then secure the weapon. When you arrive, secure your weapon in your preferance of however. walk away from the vehicle. If someone decides to be stupid. Don't ever let them be stupid again.

I remember it like it was yesterday.. She just so happened to know where the Police Station was- He followed us all the way to it until we pulled in, he QUICKLY left.
