Now instead on taking 1 30mg morphine in the mourning and 1 at night i take 2 in the mourning and 1 at night. So i take more morphine and she dropped my oxycodone from 60mg a day to 45mg a day.

I sure hope it works better.

The really bad news is the Kenalog shot i get in my butt will now be in my knees, neck, jaw, back, hands and feet.

I have had my foot operated on before and i have had shots in my heal they hurt very very very much. The last shot i got in the heal i was laying on the bed/table and he was pushing the liquid around in the heal and i told him to stop 3 times i raised my other leg and was just about to kick him in the face and he rolled away. He looked up and saw tears in my eyes and said it was time to operate.

He asked me if i was going to kick him. I told him as hard as i could.

Whats up with morphine? I have been on Morphine or Phentenal patches for 5 years. I just respect them and take them as prescribed. The doctors have told me unless i start drinking or doing meth or heroin/ i will be on pain killers the rest of my life.

    Chemo and radiation destroyed me.

Me too. Doctors said I will be on eight to ten 10.325 percocets, a day, for the rest of my life. The milk thistle does counteract the damage to my live somewhat. I know my life has been shortened by a few years from all the pain killers, but at least I can work and walk with them. They want to increase the dosage, but I deal with most of the pain for right now. I have been on them for six years now. It sucks, but they do help me through the day. I go through withdraw if I try to stop taking them for any period of time. Sometimes I just wish life would end, but when I get like that, I just think of my family.

I was on morphine in 99, then they dropped the morphine, put me on Fentanyl patches, I have oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Three years ago I was on 200mcg every two days, they got me down to 100mcg every two days, the pain doctor is afraid I was getting too much, so they dropped me to 75mcg, but it has slowed me down, unable to do the things I was able. He wanted to drop it again. I said no.
Some people, doctors just don't know when your in pain, and they say, oh it can't be that bad, I wanted to smack him. He has no clue how much pain I am in.

Doctors have come under pressure to minumize narcotic pain meds. I have had to fight to keep more than one doctor from cutting the dose off or setting it so low it doesn't do any good.
At 60mg a day I barely get by, but live with it. My cronic pain is there 24/7 . It is difficult for many to understand pain and how much of a roll it can play in your life.
It makes every day a challenge to enjoy anything. I can relate to Oakie "Sometimes I just wish life would end" but work hard to find something each day to live for.
I know I would much rather be addicted to pain meds then to have to go without. To have no relief at all would make me much more than a dull boy. Good luck to all who suffer from cronic pain !

That has got to be tough needing that much medicine to get by and becoming physically and psychologically dependent on it. I feel for you guys.

I hope it works out for you.

I tried Morphine but my body just will not use it, I got about the same reaction and help from MM's. So that did not last long and back to a med that works for pain but sure jacks with my tummy.

For those on large doses, many states now authorize injectable Narcan without a prescription.

    A reasonable precaution.

There is also now genetic testing available that scrutinizes about 200+ substrate pathways your body uses to metabolize drugs, and all new drugs are required to disclose their metabolic fates on the product inserts.

That goes a long way towards explaining why people can react so differently to the same drug, and helps practicioners select a better therapy from the start.

This is a subject that is often talked about for those with EDS. They can check to see what will or wont help and it is such a blessing. The guessing game gets dropped real fast. Many people who were labeled as "pill seekers" are now seeing why the meds did not work.
