It's legal

People in the news media amuse me. Any time they report on a story where something is happening that they don't believe should be happening, they add their snarky "it's legal" commentary into the mix. Have you noticed this?
For example, there was a local story this morning about a guy who runs an entertainment service where folks wanting to throw a party can pay the guy to bring an alligator to their pool party. The guy shows up with alligator in tow, mouth taped closed (usually it's a rescued animal), and kids can see it up close, even swim with it apparently.
It was quite clear that the reporter did not agree with the practice (I have to wonder who was forcing her to do the story) because she closed it with "apparently it's legal". What I'm sure she meant to say was "I think there should be a law against this".[xx(]

Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain

I saw that on the local news, (local business). I think that it is a good thing from the stand point of letting kids learn about their environment "hands on" but wouldn't want kids to lose their fear of gators. Even a small one like the one in the news clip can and would quickly take a finger or a hand.

All the kids in the report I saw seemed quite thrilled. As for taking a finger or hand, it'd be nigh impossible with its mouth taped shut.[:I]

As for "apparently it's legal" might be the reporter's catch phrase.
only thing is they have claws, and they can shatter bones with a swift swing of their head "solid as a rock" or tail
These are not full grown gators, but rather young ones that are no more harmful than a puppy, it would seem.

Not talking about the one with his mouth taped shut, talking about one just like it in a pool, lake, canal or on a bank somewhere sans tape.

Certainly you are not serious. A three foot gator absoulty will remove your hand ...... and you surely wouldn't mistake it for a puppy.

With what is it going to remove the hand? Its feet? Tail?

They have very little force in terms of opening their jaws,....the massive force comes from closing them.
You can duct tape a 15 foot gator, and it will be incapable of breaking said tape.

Oh I don't know ... a surgical field kit maybe ... What do you think he would use?, keeping in mind that we aren't talking about one with a taped mouth.

Why aren't we? The ones brought in to the party just so happen to have that very adornment.

Generally speaking, wild gators don't have tape on their mouths.[:D]
My point was, that if this encounter were to cause the kids to not be afraid of small gators, they may at some future time happen on one in the wild, think it safe to approach it thus leading to the possible loss of a digit or worse.

That is true.[:D]
Funny thing with gators is they will not come close to a human in the wild, unless some idiot has been feeding them.
That's when they start to come after dogs/cats/people per se.
When I used to fish Lake Okeechobee many years ago, there were gators all over the place.
I could troll up next to a 15 footer sunning in the mud, and when I got too close, it would run for the water. They usually would finally appear about 100 feet away from the boat.
The ones that become dangerous are due to stupid humans.
I'm talking gators here,......not crocs of course.[:)]

I suppose there is a concern for that. The one girl in the video does say she's not as afraid of gators anymore. Seems to me a good opportunity to educate kids while entertaining them.

Randy,...you are living in the past my friend.
The days of teaching kids about danger by showing it to them up close are gone.
We live in a totally 'sanitized' world, where personal responsibility is not needed any longer.
Just eliminate anything that MIGHT hurt a child, or damage their fragile little psyche.
In many places sports are discouraged,.....someone MIGHT get hurt.
Don't want to let your little kid play and dig in the dirt either. All that yucky bacteria![xx(]
No wonder most of these little weirdos are like they are.
They have all kinds of mental conditions,....obesity,....allergies to everything,.....weak immune systems.
Thanks much to the Gub for protecting the 'chidren' so much.
Almost forgot,...due to no corporal punishment, they now rule most households.
Didn't want to leave anything out![:p]
