Got this in an email. It's C&P; but many on this forum seem to prefer C&P.

Before you Donate~~~

Check out Goodwill

Think about these before you donate.
As you open your pockets to do a good thing and make yourself feel good, please keep these facts in mind:

The American Red Cross

President and CEO Marsha J. Evans salary for the year was $651,957 plus expenses

MARCH OF DIMES

It is called the March of Dimes because only a dime for every 1 dollar is given to the needy.

The United Way

President Brian Gallagher receives a$375,000 base salary along with numerous expense benefits.

UNICEF

CEO Caryl M. Stern receives $1,200,000 per year (100k per
month) plus all expenses including a ROLLS ROYCE . Less than 5 cents of your
donated dollar goes to the cause.

GOODWILL

CEO and owner Mark Curran profits $2.3million a year.
Goodwill is a very catchy name for his business.
You donate to his business and then he sells the items for PROFIT.
He pays nothing for his products and pays his workers minimum wage! Nice Guy.
$0.00 goes to help anyone!!! Stop giving to this man.

Instead give it to SALVATION ARMY.
GO "GREEN" AND PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE IT WILL DO SOME GOOD:?

The Salvation Army

CommissionerTodd Bassett receives a small salary of only $13,000 per
year(plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization. 96 percent of donated dollars go to the cause.

    Union Gospel Mission.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I have recently been spending time at our local Salvation Army adult rehab center, and I am very impressed with the work they do there.

I have seen similar viral emails going around. Some were WAY off on truth and accuracy.

Did you check on the truthfulness of these figures or did you just post what you got in the email?

Amen. I always figure folks who complain about charity will eventually need it someday.

Wrong. Caryl Stearns the CEO of Unicef, a GLOBAL organization that goes to the slums of this world, helping children living in diseased conditions. Not my idea of travel, glad someone does.
She makes about 1/25 of what is stated.
Check it out for yourself, type in any charity, click the box to the right, then search. www.charitynavigator.org
Find one that interests, local or global and google their website.

    Thanks for this link: www.charitynavigator.org

According to it, Unicef is $455,000 March of dimes is $632,000 Salvation Army is not tracked by group in link.

Think I will stick to supporting local groups.

I stick pretty much to local causes as well.
Used to donate to St. Judes every month, until I found out some negative things.

Basically the CEO, and COO make a combined million bucks a year.

If you are running a charity, I think you need to give a little yourself, and don't like it when I see a salary over 200K a year.

Depending on the year, my charitable contributions run between 4 and 5K for the 'gum flappers' talking about complainers not giving.
