Did you see the previews when that guy gets nailed in the chest and knocked to the ground like a rag doll? Looked like it killed him.

I once saw a guy get hit in the head with a laydown hook and thrown over the table. He walked to the car, tool pusher took him to the hospital and we continued like nothing happened. Don

Buddy of mine had that happen to him had a new driller going faster then he could, through the guy into the draw works messed him all up. Last I heard he had back surgery through the frt.

i was out there 13 years

Cant wait till people start asking about all that oil coming out of the pipe. All it is a wet trip.

If we had oil coming out the derrick like you see on the TV we would be so screwed.

Just watched some of it. Neither rig could work for me - EVER!!!! I hope no one thinks that is really what happens on a rig. They had more crap happen in one show than i have seen in 20 years with 10-15 rigs running at one time.... Reality??? You have got to be kidding....

I hear you man. You will laugh at it. since I am an ESH director - i fainted.... then called my Coordinators and told them to note the rigs and never allow them on our locations - EVER! Actually one of my guys called me and told me to watch.

Accidents happen, but geezzzusss, i can't believe all these guys aren't dead....

I worked as a roustabout on an offshore rig in the Gulf of Mexico between my sophomore and junior years of college, so I've seen real life on a rig! The food was great, it was interesting, and I made lots of money during that short period of time, but it certainly wasn't what I wanted as a career!

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

Welcome to the wonderful world of TV editing. I'm from Odessa (which is were this was shot)....well technically a few miles south. So far these look like the most inexperienced crews ever. Getting drunk and not showing up to work?? HAHAHA good luck with that. There isn't a good driller in his right mind going to crap on that kind of money for one night of hard drinking. Those guys are out there making money hand over fist right now and good hands are hard to find. I have a feeling the smart companies told these producers to stick it in their ears.

Didn't see the show, but the previews were the usual inflated crap. Really depends on what rig company you hit. Some are crap like Pool rigs. Some are nice and pretty safe like Diamond, Rowan, and Ensco rigs. Honestly though I have a ton of respect for roughnecks. Those are hard men. Tell a roughneck to get on that 36" pipe wrench and see the metal bend.

I have 4 years offshore working slickline, and 8 years total in the oilfield and currently still employed in the oilfield. It's one of the last of the free flying wild hard work and hard play type of jobs left. I might be going back in the field also if gas continues to rise. The industry is great and I love it.
