I was talking to a friend and he stated if you driving a CDL truck and the fine for talking on a cell phone was 2,700 for the driver and 10,000 dollar fine for the owner.
He also stated if you got a DWI in your own vehicle the insurance coompanies were pushing the company you drove for with your CDL not to let your drive for 3 years or they would cancel their insurance. Is this what were headed for ???????????????
I guess I should have done this first and you would be surprised what a person might find on the net

I might add this to the post
The Auzzies do things very well. I understand that in the making of Mad Max, they did things in Australia they were not allowed to do here in the USA . Man, there are some scenes in this that if they are stated then they did a masterful job of it as it looks as if there was a camera filming it in real time. Just sharing a powerful commercial.

As for the first question, guess I better get a head set. Those are some serious penalties.
If hand held phones are illegal for us in the big trucks they also should be illegal for other vehicles.
More laws! thats the answer. Pretty soon nobody will be able to drive a truck. I have High blood pressure and the meds won't bring it down so i can't drive. Also the meds make me lazy. I've had it with the government. 6 months ago I was in top physical shape but I must be one of those who has normal High BP. Now that I am on meds I feel horrible and don't feel like doing a thing. How about I just go on SSI and become a deadbeat.
yea nearly everyone over 45 will have trouble with the physicals
do they want us to go on disability

Yes, if you get a DUI in your private vehicle your truck driving career is over.
I guess if you have a CDL you better not drink and drive. Not a hard situation to avoid if you have your priorities straight.
Of course none of this will apply to those Mexican trucks and Truck Drivers right?
I don't know about Cell Phones.
I do know that the D.A.C. Report also can mess a Person up.
The Company I drove for would not hire Anyone that could not enter Canada for whatever reason.

I'm a diabetic and have had a CDL since the change over from the old Chauffeurs license some years ago and this is the first time I've ever heard of this.
1. Driving records kept for 10 years
2. Previous licenses from different states required to be reported.
3. BAC is .04 for CDL holder no matter the state.
4. Medical examiner cert required.
5. Any violation no matter the vehicle impacts job.
6. DUI no matter the vehicle = job killer.
7. Needle required diabetic not medicaly qualified.
8. While in CMV loss of rights in regards to unwarranted search.
9. Interstate commerce comes into play when carrying firearm in CMV.
10 . No respect [:D]
Couple differences between CDL and regular drivers,
1. Driving records kept for 10 years
2. Previous licenses from different states required to be reported.
3. BAC is .04 for CDL holder no matter the state.
4. Medical examiner cert required.
5. Any violation no matter the vehicle impacts job.

Big Sky Redneck:
Is it illegal for a big rig driver to carry a pistol?
I keep having guys telling me it is illegal to carry a gun in a big rig.
I ask them to show me the law and nobody can.
we can only drive for a maximum of 14 hours in any 24 hour period and after 72 hours work you must spend at least 10 hours away from the truck...so no sleeping in it or anything else to do with work. the scalies(transport cops) are always pulling trucks up and checking their log books...but then again since the strict laws truck crashes have become less common.
oh, and we have random mouth swabs for drugs for all drivers of any vehicle as well. and if your involved in any serious crash whether iut`s your fault or not you will be put on the bag to see if you`ve been drinking...and you will be swabbed for drugs!
here if you loose your licence for drink driving you have lost your job...if your a driver...and the BAC here for heavy vehicle drivers is 0.00....and it`s strickly enforced!! and no driver of a car or truck can use a mobile phone...again, big fines and demerit points if your caught.

You are both right. In one shift you may only drive 11 hours. However, if you drive 11 then sleep 10 you could (in theory) drive another 3 hours in a 24 hour period. You do have to take into account pre/post trip inspections and fueling, but it is possible to do.
Hey Dan I saw you over on the Dixie Gun Works site giving a review of the Howdah pistol.
[B)] what the sam hill is a "howdah pistol"?[B)]
A .58 muzzleloader, double barrel.
I guess it was another Dan Kelly.
Or, maybe you have multiple personalities. If so, your other personality really likes the Howdah pistol.
