Did anyone get the NRA offer for life Membership?

I just got an offer for life membership with the NRA at a reduced rate of 600.00.
Thats 400.00 off the normal going rate for life membership.
They said it was for a select few and I was wondering if I really am one of a select few or if any of you guys got the same offer.

NRA=National Rifle Association for those who would call me a D***-Head for useing an abbreviation.

    MVP,

Do not piss your money away. Send it to a no-compromise organization like GOA of JPFO, or

Buy a firearm. It'll serve you better than an NRA membership card.

Yes I did along with the normal daily solicitation from the NRA. If they saved the money that they spent on postage and paper they would have plenty of money. I like the NRA, but the barrage of crap they send me gets old.

If I did, I trashed it w/o reading it. Just like the rest of the 6,499* letters I get from them each month. (Ok not quite THAT many). I like the NRA and I'm proud to be a member. But the volume of mail they send, most begging for more money, irritates me.

As a committee member of the FNRA we were able to get a life membership for anyone in our family for S350

Say what you will about the NRA or the FNRA, I don't see the GOA or the JPFO issuing my gun club 15k+ annually in grant money.

I got an offer to me as a long-standing Life Member, to bequeath a "Legacy Life Membership" on ONE relative, for $300. Nephew is only one I can think of, and he is so young, I hesitate.

    MVP,

Did their solicitation sound anything like this:

    Dear MR. MVP (your name},

Our NRA members all support our rights as sportsmen and hunters, but a few of our members go "above and beyond" the call of duty. You, Mr. MVP, have secured your place in history as a key player in the fight our RTKBA. To show our appreciation, we have selected you for a special offer. We have reserved a life membership in your name, and are offering it to you at $400 less than the normal LM rates.

Now we at the NRA realize that this is a huge sacrifice on our part, because we could use the additional funds to help us remain the last line of defense between you and your RTKBA. However, we wish to recogzine your contributions in the RTKBA fight, which is why we included you, Mr. MVP, in the select few individuals receving this offer.

With your life membership, you will receive a handsome LM leather jacket with our logo, a LM ceritificate, a LM card you can carry with you to proudly show your support of the RTKBA, and a small statue of me, Mr. Wayne Lapierre, that you can bow down to and worship. I would like to be able to visit every member, and have them kiss my feet, but hey, when you are single-handedly saving the 2nd Amendment on a daily basis, time is short.

    Anyhoo,

If you wish to accept our offer, we will upgrade you to LM status upon receiving your payment of $600. If you choose to decline this offer, will you please send the most generous contribution you can; if not the $600 for your membership upgrade, perhaps $575, $550, $500, or maybe $475, $450, do i hear $450, $450? How about $425? No, Well could you send at least $300? Maybe $250? How about $175. I need your contribution to help pay for my house, boat, car keep your RTKBA.

I have day-to-day battles I fight against the likes of Charles Schumner, Dianne Feinstein, and Carolyn McCarthy (but we always shake hands after the fight, just like they do in UFC. Hey, I even got to stand beside them when HR2640 was passed.)

Well, it's time for my "patriot" spill.

The NRA and I are out there every day fighting for your rights, just like the brave patriots at Concord, we must fire the shot that makes the gun-grabbers hear us, but we can't fire it if we don't have the support. That is why I need you to send a contribution. Will you please, when you are needed most at this critical time in history, sacrifice, just like our Founders did. Even a contribution as small as $20 will go a long way in padding my bank account and helping me to fund that trip to Africa helping me fight for your rights.

MVP, does this sound familiar? See, I get these all the time, and I can just about quote them from memory. I had a Life Membership, but when the NRA turned its back on gun owners, and heped push HR2640, I got out. They have also supported much of NFA34 and GCA68.

And by the way, anyone who thinks they deserve a pat on the back for this recent ruling handed down by SCOTUS is mistaken. Read what the NRA's representaive had to say in his brief submitted to the court. He might as well have handed the goverment a carte blanche. Instead of getting a pat on the back, what they need to get is a swift kick in the *.[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]

    My 2 cents.

    I didn't get the offer.

Probably because I'm already a Life Member.

So I guess I am one of the select million members that received that 400.00 check from the NRA.

I wonder if they timed this to coincide with the elation they know I would feel over the supreme Court ruling today.

Its only money and they will give me a free leather jacket too.

How did you know they would throw a jacket in wsfiredude[:D]

Because I used to be a life member. I fell for the whole spill hook, line, and sinker. I used to vehemently defend the NRA, just like some on this board; the NRA could do no wrong. Then, after reading some of the facts about the NRA that some good people on here posted, and after doing some research on my own, my opinion changed. It was quite clear the NRA was not the defnder of my rights as they touted themselves to be. I still receive literature from them, and file it accordingly. I don't read it, because quite frankly, I find it nauseating.

I just got my mail,........NRA renewal letter in it.
    You must be special!

    Mine expires 11/2008.
I was offered $750.00 for lifetime.
Of course they are sending these early,.......like I get every month, to save money on mailings.

MVP,......you are special in their eyes, by 150 bucks over me.
I guess I am special to the tune of 250 bucks over the "quoted" 1K you mentioned.

Gee,......we are both special. I will sleep better tonight knowing that.[:D][:o)]

I got one of those. I saw "Legacy Life Membership" and thought they wanted me to put them in my will. Since I don't have anything to bequeath I shredded it without reading it. [:D]

Maybe I'll start reading my mail.

The only reason I'm in the NRA is because I bought a Taurus and they give you a free membership with it. I'm not so wild about their VP and I think they would be such a better organization if he were not their figurehead.

I'm a member because as a Disabled Veteran, I got a deal I couldn't pass up on a lifetime membership. I agree they are not perfect, but as a member, I have more of a say in their activities than if I were not. And I do let them know what I think when I disagree with their actions.

I didn't get one because I've been a life member for several years.

I got the offer for a $600 life membership. I passed on it because at my age, I thought I would never get full benefit of it.
