Have a question that I thought that I knew the answer, but not so sure. When was the changeable shotgun choke invented. Remember that there were external screw on chokes also.
And there may have been some chokes that did not get a patent, I want to know about those too.

Back in the day, as well as silencers, the Maxim company (early 20th century) supplied chokes (I think-not sure). Also, check out the Cutts company. I have a 'vibe' that tells me that at least one, or possibly both companies were choke device ground-breakers.

    Check it out!

On civilian production shotguns- I have a Mossberg book around somewhere, from what i remember they came out with the external screw on chokes in early 50's and Winchester had the first internal choke on their model 59 in 1959.
That is to the extent of what i know, and was wondering if other companies had experimented or produced them sometime before that- Givette- i googled and found some info on Cutts and Maxim, i will have fun looking into them further, lots of reading.
