I went to the state of Ohio Youth Team Trap Shooting finals on Monday. What a fine example of seeing hundreds of well trained youths, boys and girls. They were all well mannered, respectful, and their behavior was excellent. Why don't we see this type of event on the evening news? Why can't our school systems do as good a job with our kids as these team coaches do with the kids? These coaches are mostly electricians, plumbers, truck drivers, utility company workers, not highly educated collage graduates like our school teachers are. Why do our coaches get better results in the kids behavior then the pros? I think it's the respect and trust the coaches show them. Please correct me if Im wrong.

I don't think the Coaches are as Liberal as the regular teachers.

Kids are smart, they can smell Liberal BS and naturally reject it. It is only after years of brainwashing by liberal teachers that they change their natural non-liberal views.

It helps when your dad builds a private skeet range in your backyard too.

I taught in elementary schools for 38 years. Most children were well behaved and responded to the teachers appropriately. Those that didn't, had parents that were clueless. Teachers don't create monsters. They have to deal with them.

    tonex, welcome to GunBroker. [:D]

    How did the surgery go?

I think you're right about the kids. I also think a contributing factor is the coaches probably get a pretty good kid to begin with.

tonex, I enjoyed reading about this youth group. I think the reason that we don't see our youth involved with firearms activities as much as we would like is because it is not a sport that thrills the politically correct within the media. I also believe that we need to compare apples with apples where coaching is concerned. For example, I think that our coaches within the teaching profession are every bit as successful in training our youth as are those coaches that you note, even where shooting activities are concerned, and perhaps somewhat more so due to organized competition, and this also makes it more difficult for the media to avoid.
    What's next?

Why don't we see this sort of thing on evening news?

Because the viewing public doesn't want to see it. They'd rather see some guy beating a child, a thousand times over, or a bunch of talking heads screaming at each other, or yet another report on Brittany Spears drunk.

    NOT ALL TEACHERS ARE LIBERAL!!!

the kids I see around here get plenty of brainwashing from home and the teachers have to deal with that.
