Species Results Pref Pts

BEAR UNSUCCESSFUL 8
DEER UNSUCCESSFUL 4
ELK UNSUCCESSFUL 1
PRONGHORN UNSUCCESSFUL 11

My father did draw a 1st season rifle bull tag for unit 66. Although I know very little about the unit I do know it is home to some big bulls and rugged country. Should be fun.

Clint you have mail.

Maybe I'm "stoopid", but I don't understand the "draw" system. Is this in your home state? What if you own land, do you still have to be drawn? Or is it just for public land? I would hate to think that I would have to put in for a lottery and leave my hunting season up to pure luck!

If you are looking at unit 61 we need to talk. My father and I hunted it last year and came away with over 600 inches of antlers in 3 days. If you are holding out for Browns park then you are a little over 1/2 way there.[:(!]

    Hairy enter the "big Draw"?
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Yes my home state of Colorado. Co's system is pretty convoluted. The state is broken into over 100 units and you must apply for a specific unit, specific game animal, specific sex... You can also enter for private land tags. I you draw than you have to get permission from a land owner in that unit. Then that tag is only good on private not public land. Leaves you with lots of potential combinations. Special rules exist for land owners. I'm not one of them so my knowledge is lacking...but basically if you own enough land your get a few tags that you can sell. Game animals are considered property of the state so you don't get to shoot whatever you want.

well hope your wildlife commission doesn't ever sell out it constitutes (you) and set up a system that allows for the maximum number of out of state permits and the minimum number of instate permits allowed by their rules.

It will take me min of five yrs (thus the pref pts) to draw a mule deer buck tag, I have friends from Ut that stay with me and hunt here they have drawn every other yr since I moved here 4 yrs ago.

If I archery hunted I could probably pull a tag every other or every third yr.

some units are different but the ones Lew and I live nearest are some of the hardest to draw tags in
