I just had to have it, Commander frame with officers slide and barrel. I like the idea of one extra round in the mag.
I guess they are a limited production. this one is number 155

    I went looking for information and found this post in the 1911 forum;

    Called Lew Hortons today and spoke to a very nice older gentlemen. He knew exactly what I had and explained to me that the Night Officer II was made in 1993 and that there were 350 made and he believes mine is all stainless steel. He told me they sold new for $680.00. He also told me I was very lucky to get serial number 005 and that I had one of the finest pistols that ever came out of Colt.

    I could not resist heading off to the range today. It's one of the finest and most accurate pistols I have shot. I sent a NRA target down range and took my first shot. It dead center, however I didn't realize it at first and took three more shots. At first I thought I was missing the target completely. I could not see the holes in the center of the dark ring. I then took a few more shots and saw light come threw the center. I pulled in my target and all shots were in the black. I then started to get excited and my group moved to the left of the bullseye. I decided to pack up and go home and clean my new toy.

    My new eight round magazines with the patent number on the follower work flawlessly. Except for me eight round magazine with the shooting stars and rubber bumper. I had problems with this magazine in my Combat Elite also. When I fully load the magazine the last rounds FTF. I stuck with the eight round magazines with the patent number on the followers and everything worked perfect.

    Now I am really Psyched to go try it out

    Jeez I hope they're worth that much (I stole mine compared to that)
    I read they were hard chromed in one place or stainless on the other I bought mine thinking it was stainless. I also doubt Colt or LH put these black MOP grips on the gun from the factory. but they sure dress it up compared to the hogue grips on the one in the ad.

    Pawn shop. The guy pawned it like 10 times and always picked it up, this time he didn't make it. The pawn shop owner kept it 3 months, tried calling the owner and everything but he didn't answer and didn't return a call so he finally put it on the shelf, a half hour before I walked in and bought it.

    Sure but that one would be way down the list of guns to pawn or sell. Once Colts go in my safe, they rarely come out...can I interest you in a HK? or maybe a nice Beretta? how about a Sig?
