To answer your response to my question on the other thread:

quote:Bill, I am not familiar with him. I guess that he is a musician? Since Katrina, the music has really taken off. There is more music now then before. The Jazz Festible had some big names. What type of music does he play?Mason Ruffner is a rocker and excellent guitarist that SRV was highly impressed by. I've always wanted to see him perform "Gypsy Blood" (1987) live. I'll have to monitor his website and if he is ever down there I might have to visit my sisters in Baton Rouge and take in a show. Here is a link to him playing Gypsy Blood!

Thanks Earl! He's actually from Fort Worth, Texas and in the late 70's and into the 80's played at places like the Old Absinthe Bar on Bourbon Street and eventually a steady spot at Club 544 with his band "The Blues Rockers". He and the band backed blues names like Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, and Memphis Slim to name a few.

I don't think he has played down there for some time now, but if I ever hear of him playing down there again I'll check with you to see if the location is safe! [:0] [:D]
