It's on the form to sell something and it is so easy to abuse! A couple of examples 1. A TC pistol barrel and scope shipped about 600 miles quoted at $35.... 2. Shotgun shipped about 800 mi gets my ups account# and $15- got my postal m/o and license-- now wants another $25 because it is so far away. I ask before I bid but responses are slow- so you think "oh hell- how bad can it be".. Guess I just won't bid anymore on these things... 292 positives from snocountry.

If I worked out a price before hand and now he wants more money? I would leave negative feedback, thats crazy. If they have your account number, it don't cost him anything to ship it, right? Won't it be charged to your account? Maybe I don't understand all of it, but that sounds a little strange.

Just goes to #1 rule. Always ask and NEVER leave anything open to chance. No repy = NO BID!

+1 "Shipping charges" can mean whatever the seller wants them to mean: postage, packing materials, labor, gas to the post office or UPS center and a couple of beers & a hot dog during the trip. ALWAYS ask before you bid if they aren't specifically stated!

Got an update- seller told me I had 3 choices 1. send a m/o for another $25 2. give him a credit card for the $25 (ad says another $4.50 for a credit card) or 3.we would call the auction a wash and he would return my postal m/o for $465 I said let's do option#3...
He has posted negative feedback for me and relisted the gun at $550.
the gb# is 102627811 and an explaination that shipping is a set $30 due to problems with a previous buyer... what to do?????????

You have plenty more feedback than him, it will be more difficult for him to recover from that since he only has one positive at this point. I would leave him negative feedback based on what you have said, bottom line is that it looks like he didn't get enough for his gun and wanted $25 extra bucks to cover some of his loss! I would put it like that and post a reply on your negative feedback.

OK- done that- but- that was not my understanding of calling the auction a "wash". Thanks everybody.

Looks good to me, I think I would have added a part about him listing gun starting out at more than what you paid, its obvious that he didn't get what he wanted and that he was just trying to recoup his loss.

Also, keep the emails if anyone wants to look at the correspondence between you two. I would also say in the feedback that you had the original emails if anyone needs to look at them.

That'll burn his *! And, maybe teach the cheat a lesson.
Ever notice how these dirtbags that beat people on the auction side, NEVER show their ugly muggs over here?

Everyone gets a negative feedback eventually. Just by the #'s if you win enough auctions, eventually you are going to run into a jerk. Nobody is going to stop you from bidding on their auctions because of 1 negative. Don't sweat it.

In retrospect, this was self-inflicted, all kinds of warning signs,
like the address on gunbroker is different, said he moved the business 30 miles away, to 99 temple road, from 501 state st. The only telephone # is a cell, never got a response via email, always has his "office mgr" "Angel" call me by phone with the dirty work.. on the plus side- was polite and agreeable- always answered the phone- so far- conned me into believing that the extra $15, plus my ups# was to pay his "man" for running into town. seemed happy to call the auction a "wash" and return my postal m/o and FFL. Now I wonder if it is coming back at all. Guess I better make a trip to the post office and stop it- should have done that like yesterday.

Yep, I don't bid on stuff unless there is a dollar amount stated for shipping. This crap of an auction saying "Buyer pays actual shipping charges", well that could be anywhere from a dollar to five million.

FFL and all documents and my postal m/o came today via fedex. And a rather confusing letter which had a new business name "back door guns". just a few days ago it was TDE. I think my assurance that I would contact the ATF and postal inspectors in 3 days had the desired effect.

How does the seller know how much it will cost to your location? You are requiring your sellers to rip you off! If I have to post a set shipping cost it will be the most it could possibly end up costing me? Doesn't make sense?

I have a pistol I am going to bid on when the time gets right and the seller stated "actual shipping" so after about 5 emails back and forth I have it nailed down to a firm price.
2 days to go before I place my bid and win a cool pistol and I know what to expect for shipping when I win it[:D]

Makes total sense, just say in your auction shipping will be $xx.xx. Then I will know when I bid how much this thing is going to cost me instead if me guessing how much I'm paying for something.

I had a jerk want to back out of an AS IS auction. So I told him if he would pay the return shipping and my relisting fees I would take the item back.

He left me bad feedback, go figure.

Expect this topic to go POOF! when a moderator catches it.

I've never had to send anything back- sometimes it's a little iffy but then sometimes it's a great deal.. I only had one return- gave him all his money back, shipping both ways, my fault, period. and I ate the selling fees too. consignment gun that I did not check. I do now, embarassing as hell to have the whole beretta gas piston missing.
