From the bottom of my heart I sincerely hope and pray that you do not have cancer in any shape - type - form - or stage...

Best wishes for a negative result or clean margins. I had a Squamous Cell Carcinoma removed back in September from the top of my head. It wasn't a big deal.

There is skin cancer and there is skin cancer. Most of them are the little pain in the *, don't amount to much type I get all the time and there is the less popular real deal cancer.

If it's cancer, chances are it will be the kind I get. If it's melanoma he probably got it all. However, since no cancer is good news I'll be just a little concerned until I read your update telling me it wasn't a big deal.

If it's any kind of cancer you can look forward to an annual appointment to come in and get the new ones carved out.

    Roger,

I wish I could say something funny. Unfortunately I can't think of anything. Hemorrhoids one can laugh about. Actually a case of the clap usually has a light side. Cancer just doesn't in any form. You and Doris will be in my thoughts and prayers. Let it be nothing.

Woody, I had an odd bump on the back of my neck in August. My family doctor cut it off as a precaution. Good thing. It came back as a malignant melanoma. He sent me to a Mohs specialist immediately and they carved out a bit more. That came out clean. Doc said if I had waited until Christmas to check out the bump, his advice would have been to make a will. Melanoma is no f...ing joke.

Later, they removed a couple other odd things, one of which turned out to be a 90% on the way to melanoma. Now, I go back every three months for a full body close look.

Catching it early is absolutely no big deal. Not catching it early may be your very last deal.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I go once a year and have some spots frozen, some shaved off and some surgically removed. Sucks but beats the alternative [:D]

Oddly I also had one on my left arm I asked the doc if perhaps it was from leaving it out a open window in the sun, he said could be who knows.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

You betcha, we lived outdoors and now I'm paying for it. Left arm worse than right-- Dr says "u drive a lot?" Uh yeah, MC's a lot too.
Cover up guys. Sunblock 50 for me and I cover up more.
They been trimming this ginger for a few years now. So far so good. Best wishes for recovery.

Message to any youngsters here reading the ramblings of us old farts- SPF 50 and a hat. Yeah, I have to go see my Doc 2x a year. Back of your neck, top of ears, nose, and scalp. Yeah, you have that nice head of hair- you still get sun damage. Cover it up before you tear it up- it is MUCH less painful.

They have it figured out pretty well. I had Mohs many times, losing a large part of my lower lip, and tops of both ears. Get it done in a timely fashion and it will go better. I had my most serious tumor done at Mayo and I dont want to sound like a pity party. Wear hats and lotion which we never had when we were kids. I road the tractor all day long with the shirt off and didnt know better. I do now!

Woody, I've had a couple of things cut off my hide. So far, they've all been mere moles; raised, rough, multi-colored moles.

    Just throwin' that out there.

Ozma had several spots show up on her right cheek and above her eye.
She used some sort of chem-creme that caused her body to react violently to the spots.
Took about six weeks to clear up.
She's got to go back now about every six months for checks.

My ear was bleeding & the doctor said it was a pressure ulser caused by my motorcycle helmet. Changed health plans the next year & the new doctor said same thing. Changed health plans again & the new doctor said he wanted to do a test. Result came back skin cancer.
The doctor that operated said there are three kinds & how soon he would operate depended on which kind it was. When they scheduled me for five months away they said it was the least serious.
Then they called a short time later & said they had a cancellation & if I could come in the next day I could get it done then.
There were several people being done the same day & we had to wait after the surgery to see if he got it all. I was one of two who had to have a second surgery & the other guy had to have at least a third.
I assume there would be a much smaller chunk of my ear missing if either of the other doctors had ordered the test.

My Dad gets spots cut off every month or so. Apparently the NAVY in the early 60's did not provide suncreen and he got a tad toasty on deck. (He also worked a lot with Nukes and later with some nasty chemicals as a civilian) I love boating and going to the beach but always wear sunscreen and a hat and at the beach am under my umbrellas with a cool one!....

I have fair skin and grew up in the 50's & 60's. I don't remember there being an emphasis on using sunscreen back then; so between fishing and swimming and lots of outdoor activity I burnt to a crisp on a number of occasions. Consequently, skin anomalies and skin cancer is a way of life for me. Fortunately, most of mine are precancerous spots, so they can be dealt with by freezing, burning, or scraping, but I've had to have a few cut out as well. I'm on a 6 month checkup schedule.

I'm expecting to get it. Years of working as a roofer with lots of exposure to coal tar pitch.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly
