Looks like the young man pissed his pants. Probably scared sh**less from the bombs going off over head or nearby.

The constant fear of death or "when will I get mine" can do that to ya.

Probably could find a scene like that in any war on either side.
I thank God and all veterans that I didn't have to experience it.

that's the way it goes. the guy on the left would probably end up dead before the guy on the right.

Been there. Both guys. Relate to the kid more, though. It's not humorous picture. I'd like to think he survived the war, bought a VW dealership in Bremen, is a little overweight now, and has ten great-grandchildren.

The uniforms and insignia eventually don't matter anymore. They're just soldiers. God bless them all.

Except the viet cong. May they all instantly become incontinent as I write this. Still working on the forgiveness thing.

Thought it might be interesting to read what different people here saw in it.

Hell, Tex. Can't blame the kid. He's probably the smarter of the two. I would give my left arm to know his name, and what happened to him.

Perhaps a very shrewd ploy by the Germans to put out these propaganda photos to lull their adversaries into believing they were a defeated and cowardly force to deal with.
