Bail out

If the govt.instead of bailing out the big companies gave everyone a 100,000.00 stimulus check it would serve 2 purposes. 1 most everyone would pay off their mortgages and outstanding credit cards/bills and 2 the companies that are soliciting bailout money would be receiving their outstanding debts thus not needing the bailout money. After the smoke cleared there would be more money out there because people would feel more comfortable buying things.
I heard on some radio talk show it would save the govt $$ also.

the problem is the government doesnt think like that. it would be a good move, and great for people that are in line to lose their houses. thats why AIG had a 375k retreat after they got their bailout money, and all the corp bosses will get that million dollar bonus.

Sounds like a plan, but I would tie it to a household's/individual's 2007 gross income as reported on their 2007 tax return. The calculation would take the 2007 household's/individual's gross income divided by 100,000 times $100,000; but the stimulus would not exceed $100,000 per household/individual. Then, all existing household/individual debts must be cleared using the calculated stimulus with the remainder going to the household/individual. Let's see, currently we would get $98,800 after debt liquidation; let's do it! [^][:D][:D]

I am sure a lot of folks would blow their money but it would be going right back into the local economies and that would give the boost that is needed. The folks that pad off their mortgages and debts would also feel more comfortable spending /saving more money.

Just a thought, technically it is Our Money anyway, and most of us do balance our checkbooks and live on a budget and within our means (when there is work)

If everyone got $100,000 to spend prices on everything would go up so fast it would make your head spin. And do you think the people that are behind on their bills would use the money to get out of debt, or would they but a new car instead?
