I'm planning a Gulf Coast vacation with the wife and kid and Gulf Shores, Al is something I'm looking at as a possible destination.

Other travel suggestions welcome [:)]

Go, been there more than once and all good every time. And you will be missing the school kids, parents crowds in a few weeks.

Rack, where you coming from?....Lots of good places on the Gulf of Alabama...Do you want to saty on the Gulf,or stay out of town and drive down...??? All about money, and much you want to spend....Fort Morgan is quieter and much cheaper...

Staying right on the beach is a must. Details are still being worked out, but we'll probably be coming in from Nashville.

I prefer quiet, but still within range of good food and things to see.

Been many times, years ago. Used to go to Gulf State Park, get a primitive camp site and sleep in my truck.[:D] Had to kill all the mosquitoes before I could sleep though.

We, friends and me, used to leave out early from Greensboro, go down there for the day and come back that night if we couldn't find a place to stay. I was usually the designated driver. Back then I could stay up 3 or 4 days and not get sleepy driving.

Be sure and visit the Flora-Bama lounge and oyster bar. There are some great restaurants.

If you are interested, check out the National Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola.

Wow, I just realized it has been over 20 years since I've been to Gulf Shores. Need to plan a trip!!!!

That's where the Blue Angels are based out of. According to their website, they practice 2 days a week there and it's open to the public.

Definitely hitting that! Thanks for the tip

Fort Pickens. Great camp sites right on a Gulf, across from P-cola Naval Air Station.

I prefer to stay a little farther down in Orange Beach. It is a little quieter than right at the "hangout". Both Meyer Realty and Kaiser have good websites to find what you are looking for.

Was in Orange Beach for a week earlier this month. Lots to see and do. Plenty of places to eat. Also plenty of places to separate you from your money. [:D] Good trip and lots of fun. I will go back another time.

Just came back from Pensacola. Check out the naval aviation museum. In mobile is the USS Alabama battleship (now a museum). Flora Bama has a nice night life. If you find yourself in Pensacola the sound side of the beach is super calm and great for kids (lots of shallow water with no waves) if you would like a more active beach than hit the south east side. Mcguire a is a great restaurant. Lamberts is awesome eating on the eastern Alabama side. Vista Campbell's a hardware for a fun gun store. Mellow mushroom is great pizza in that area as well.
