Which is true the ammo is extinct or just on the endangered species list?

I hear they're using empty 22lr shell casings as the new gold standard.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Neither is true. The ammo is doing fine, vacationing in my closet.

Right now everybody and his brother is stockpiling enough 22 ammo to last the rest of their lives. The manufactures cannot keep up with the demand and the retail sellers immediately sold out when the panic started and have not been able to keep any on the shelf since.

It will get better, but it will take time.

All these retail sellers gouging ammo buyers had better enjoy it while they can. I suspect that once the steam runs out of the panic ammo sales will be very slow for a long time.

Stopped at the local Walmart this morning and they had gotten some .22 but were already sold out, I scored some 38 for 19 bucks a box, not sure how they sold out so fast if they don't start selling it until 7:00 am I only saw one guy leaving with a small bag of ammo before me.
I had to wonder if the employees are getting it first. If that is the case maybe I could volunteer to work for free in the sporting goods section just for first dibs on Ammo!
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I am positive that the Walmart that I go to is getting ammo that never makes it to the shelfs I was in there three times before 7am last week and no ammo at all had been stocked.

I wonder when having 15k rounds of 22 became a big deal?

Logic would dictate that if you have 14 .22's 1k rounds or so for each is not really a big deal.

The manufacturers are now making them out of unobtanium instead of lead.

I've talked with workers at several Walmarts. They are not allowed to order guns or ammo. Shipments arrive though because it is being sorted and directed to stores from higher up the supply chain. Ammo goes in the locked display cases at 10pm and the sporting goods counter opens at 7am.

Shipments do not necessarily arrive every day. Or even on days normally expected.

Over the weekend I saw .25ACP, .30-06 and 12ga in Walmarts.

Not true in all cases, I was told by the sporting goods people when a truck comes in if it has ammo on it they would normally have it out by 7 or 8 am not always unloaded at night
