Shortage of ammo in the military.

My neighbors son just graduated from army boot camp. He told me they were limited to 25 rounds of ammo because of the shortage and because of Obama's cut backs[:(!] This is really sad that these young men and women can't shoot in order learn how to become proficiant. Next they will have them chucking rocks at the enemy.

We have a national guard unit that leases one of our ranges for a once per month qualifying.
    Did not show this month.

Let me get this mess straight...

The gub'ment is BUYING ammo to use inside the borders...
Yet are cutting back on ammo to use OUTSIDE the borders.

It's a sad day when the gub'ment decides that there is more of a threat inside than outside.

    Sad day indeed... [V]

Just being stockpiled to use on us civilians when the time is appropriate.

You may think otherwise however. [:0]

    I DON'T think otherwise.

IT is waiting for 2014 to get the House back.
    Game over at that point.

Come on..you dont really believe the Pneagon is short on ammo do you? Its not, not even close....they are doing crap like this to make it look like the cut backs are hard on the troops in hopes that the cut backs will be cancelled. They have plenty of ammo, and everything else they need....thier budget has been sky high for 12 years, they got lots of eveything stockpiled.

I call BS. The pantagon NEEDS slashed....and slashed big time.

Id start by scraping a few aircraft carriers, and parking all the armour divisions....dont need either anymore....and thats just the start.

Is he infantry? I can understand them cutting back on ammo for MOS's that will rarely hold a rifle outside of boot camp. Tje Air Force is the same way. If you're assigned to a non critical "shooter group" you might re-qualify every 6 years.

    All Marines are infantry (grunts).

I'm sure all of the aircraft mechanics get pulled of off broken jets so they can do combat patrols...

I have a friend who was in the first Gulf War. He was in the STA-PLT 1/3. After the War, he stayed on, and became an instructor at the Marine Sniper School. After reading the post here, I emailed him about ammo shortages. He said that was a non-issue there. He can order as much ammo as he sees fit for his Marines.
So, at least the Marines have all the ammo that they need. We can all rest tonight.

Any of the so-called ammo shortages in our military is just another lie put out by this administration IMHO. [}:)]

When Clinton was in office, some soldiers had to buy their own ammo to shoot at the range !

This has been happening off and on since 2003. Ammo seemed to always be short and training ammo was cut off to ensure there was some overseas when I was in a few years back. Now with budgets, I can see where it probably has gotten worse.

think what you are reffering to is soldiers wanting to go shoot on their own time not during official training. Back in the day I beleive they used to be able shoot on their own time, but that was done away with, for more reasons then just saving ammo.

There is no shortage of ammo in the military.
Limiting rounds for training has happened many times during budget issues. Happened during Carter & Clinton times. Gramm-Rudman etc.
Happens when the end of the fiscal year approaches also.

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
